very true, not to mention it wouldn't exactly make sense for just a soldier or two to fly on their own to another planet... The single player should follow a true time-line. problem is fun and practicality are sometimes opposing. I agree it would definitely be fun, but I'm relatively familiar with the weight of processing such things. networking is actually less intensive than AI, ironically. As long as you do an Oct-tree collision with zone based rendering (I'm still reading about Oct trees, but I can describe zoning). The host is the only one with the bulk of commands, so it's not too bad.

but that would make it less large scale. to be honest I would prefer to see battles 128 v 128 with 32 v 32 players. than with 64 v 64 players. Although MAG was capable of 256 multiplayer. There wasn't near as many vehicles, creatures, etc. as the BF series.

That customization isn't practical though. I would rather see development time go into good levels than into the creation of generic buildings and map layouts, and a map creator gui.
