I wanted large scale battles. Voted for last option. But I really want a death star space battle.

then play rogue squadron for GC....

edit* not trying to be that jerk that says another game does it better, but personally I feel BF3 should focus more on the ground battles. space battles were a nice addition in bf2 but they got old fast as the AI would just disapear and the flying was weak. Im not saying take space battles out but I would rather them focus on the ground as there is no star wars game that focus on military land combat.

I agree with you, but with how bad space battles were, they need improvement more than anything else. Besides we already have the nth-teen topics over ground combat so I thought it'd be nice change of pace.

Yes they did get boring in the first few minutes. I wished every space battle was different in each planet.

Space-to-ground battles?

Anyway I'd also like basic space battles to be improved too.

I agree they need improvement then just destroying parts of ships and shooting down fighters.

What is really needed is to scrap the point system and actual consequences to taking down parts of the ship:

communications tower ==> no communication with ground battle
Engines == > no movement
shields ==>Hull starts to take a beating

and once the hull goes the ship goes boom :P

I would also like to see the capital ships actually have an impact when they fire at eachother.

I agree. The point system was dissapointing, but I believe some "lives" or "tickets" should be lost when the ship is destroyed.

That would be cool, say each ship supports 25 players/AI units. You lose a ship, the next 25 people that die cannot respawn immediatly and have to wait in a que system.

I was thinking something similar. Do agree point system was dissapointing. Do agree it should have pros and cons for the ground battle.

Definitely, but I still picture a space to ground battle where the space team starts out with no command posts.

Not bad . Like when you choose your class, you get randomlly choosened a vehicle to use to go to either continue space or go to ground.

hopefully not random. I though you would star out in the cruiser and start gathering up for the ground assault I think I mentioned it earlier in a different discussion. I'll go check.

Adding a full scale interior would make boarding parties more important. maybe there could be a commanding officer (player or AI) that remains on the bridge, and killing him will result in a massive points boost (unless the point system is removed, which i hlope it is) or even an immediate victory. But the catch is that the commander is well armed and as tough as the wookie warriors. it would add a need to get on the ship insted of just simple sabatoge.
