i5 and i7 Cores

Since a bunch of people on this forum know the answer to this question. What is an i5 or i7 core. How is it different than a Core Duo. Does it have like 7 different cores or what?

that seems the best bet. I know you can get quad cores and am thinking the next step up will be a 8 core proccessor ( 2's the magic number

I know they are an intel processor, but is there like 4 "cores" or 8, or 7 or something?

Core i5 is a brand name used by Intel for several new processors. It is positioned between the mainstream Core i3 & Core 2 and the high-end Core i7 & Xeon brands.

I've never heard of intel xeon. Now that we're talking processors, is the processor in the alienware m11x alright?
