Is it possible to add a private chatting feature on the forums? It's better and quicker than writing messages. Just like the facebook chat.

There's already a chat feature
Yea, but it's 'global' not 'private'.ploplyguy wrote:There's already a chat feature

Unless you want to send innapropriate messages, I don't see why you need private chat lol
Admins should be able to know what your chatting about. Anyway, its faster than sending a message.ploplyguy wrote:Unless you want to send innapropriate messages, I don't see why you need private chat lol

lol it's not "private" if Admins can read it.
Do you mean like a page dedicated to chat? So you'll like click on a link and be brought to a chat room? If so that would be sweet

Private chatting is faster than sending messages (messages are also private and admins can also check them). There should be nothing bad about this.

PMs are pretty much instant. As for private chatting, I don't believe there would be too many high quality plugins for phpbb.
If you are still for some reason against chatting on the public chat, you could always setup a chatroom with a site like chatzy.com. You can start a private chat for however many people you want.
Other than that, I'd suggest trying the public chat. If you wanna talk to one person no one will oppose

Is phpBB free? Do you need servers at home connected 24-7? I only got into Dreamweaver.
