In my opinion I think that the Battlefront games have declined in awesomeness since the start... don't get me wrong, they are all great games but I haven't felt as satisfied as I did with the first than all of the ones after it. I just think the original Battlefront was amazing, followed by Battlefront 2 which, to me, lacked something I can't explain and then the handhelds.... I'll just say this, the Battlefront series is much better suited to home consoles. So I just hope that Battlefront 3 doesn't suffer the same decline.
BFI was way better than the second. BFII's controls were off and the grenade physics were all over the place unlike BFI which had flawless grenade throws.

That is so true... probably why I rarely used grenades in the second
In battlefront 1 you try to survive more. In battlefront 2 I find myself charging out to capture command posts not caring if I die.
I think Battlefront 1 had the best feeling of the player being just a small part of a large fight. There weren't playable heroes or award weapons. You were really no different than any of the bots, whereas in SWBF2, you are the best weapon on the field.
I recently downloaded a Bespin: Platforms map converted for Battlefront 2. I recall in the first Battlefront, you could spend nearly half of the battle fighting between the walkways that held that center command post. In Battlefront 2, I cleared out the walkways, captured the center, and went on to take the enemy's starting posts within a few minutes of the map starting on a single life, using a basic trooper. That kind of stuff shouldn't happen.

Yea in BF it was more difficult to beat whatever map you were playing on. I also thought the character models were better in the first.
Good point. BFII was too easy yet the controls weren't even as tight. The first game was silk and the challenge came from the enemies not the controls.
You could stand next to a trooper in the second and he'd spray all over the place and not hit you (or just burst). BFI all the way

I also tend to notice that in Battlefront 2 the fight pretty much always focused on you. Enemy bots would almost exclusively target you whenever you appeared, regardless of other threats in the area.
It also seemed like the friendly AI was severely dumbed-down for whatever side you were using.

Wow I only thought it was me who thought that BF1 was better... never expected so many replies that agree.
I just got BF1 in today and I fell in love again... so I'll be playin that for a while... lol

In terms of immersion, Yeah, I think Battlefront 1 is a bit better. But I've probably spent more hours in Battlefront 2, since it's just as entertaining in its own way.
I would hope that Battlefront 3 would manage to combine the positive aspects of both games in a way that makes them more enjoyable for everyone. I would really hate to have waited this long just to get "Battlefront 2 HD"

Yea but I would still love both BF's in an HD collection
Only because it has more elements that are new, which is a difficult point to defend without looking like a dumbass. I guess I mean that if BFI had Hunt, or space battles, or the redefined Galactic Conquest, it would be even better than BFII.Kelevra wrote:...Battlefront 2, since it's just as entertaining in its own way.
Battlefront II had more mechanics in the game, but the core wasn't as tight as the original.
I don't sound like that much of a dumbass...right?

Jedi Master

You don't sound like a dumbass lol.... that was a good answer and it's true
