Ive actually been keeping a notebook that Ive added to often. It now has plenty of ideas!
Heres a few, tell me what you think.
First, the obvious:
Seamless Ground to Space transitions. No load or lag.
More animations. No more "jump steering" (you actually CLIMB into the vehicle, not just "jump" into it)
More weapons.
More planets
bigger maps
Online multiplayer
Now, my own preferences.
More realistic gameplay :
Examples:
Weather actually affects the match eg. Snow blinds radar, rain slicks up everything.
More people on field at once: Im thinking 400 NPCs at once
No "jumping" (spawning right in front of an enemy and running alongside a vehicle, then pressing a button and BANG! Inside! This is wrong) it follows that:
Spawn overlaps: meaning a few things.
1: Your ground troops start in a place the enemys cant get to without leaving the battlefield and blowing up and vice versa.
2: Your space troops spawn in a room on the ship the enemies cant open.
3: (this relates to dynamic bases) two options here: 1 Your troops get dropped in from space to the ground on jump ships (The battle of Geonosis like) or they spawn in a place in the base your enemies cant get to.
Moving on:
Dynamic bases:
All bases can change. Find an empty house? Plant a flag BANG! Your new base! There needs to be a limit of how many bases you can have at one time though.
In order to get on or in a vehicle, you have to climb on to it. Again no "jumping".
Fight in zero gravity? In space, but no ship?
Just some ideas.

I like the idea that enemies can't spawn right in front of you because that used to really annoy me, after fighting your way to thier base and getting nailed from behind by a newly spawned enemy.
However, what would be the point in bases if you can't spawn there? weapon drops? vehicles?
I also like the idea in giving the player the freedom to plant new bases whereever they see fit but the AI will have to be very well programmed to stop them 1) spamming bases and 2) planting them in completely random locations.

I think RTSs have shown us AI can do these things quite well.Tretarn wrote:I also like the idea in giving the player the freedom to plant new bases whereever they see fit but the AI will have to be very well programmed to stop them 1) spamming bases and 2) planting them in completely random locations.

Yes, I see your point Tretarn.....
Hmm...
Ok how about these options:
1: There are specific base points on each map, and you pick the individual ones you want.
Or
2: By the time the game comes out NPC AI might have advanced to the point this isnt an issue (though I dont see that happening).

I feel if you have started attacking an enemy command post enemies cannot spawn there unless you die and there is still "red" in the capture bar thingy.(Not sure what that's called
) But spawning somewhere enemies can't get to you????? NO because you spawn to the command post.
But I agree I HATE spawn killers and people who spawn right in front of you after you fought your way through the battlefield.

Jedi Master

Yea, I hate spawn killers too, but its just part of the game(sorta
) Also limited bases where you can put ANYWHERE? I think there should be pre-located command posts like in ALL the Battlefronts so far, so no one(n00bs) plant a base WAY out of range of the enemy's base. Except for those, I like the rest of the ideas! 400 NPC's? Hell, make it 500 lol

Gaming is a way to show someone you ARE better than them

Killzone 2 had this in multiplayer and it works fine. There are boundaries to each battlefield anyway so you couldn't plant it too far away.GeneralChaz9 wrote:Also limited bases where you can put ANYWHERE? Where's Arosenivai when I need himGeneralChaz9 wrote:400 NPC's? Hell, make it 500 lol

As far as the general question of 'new features' goes, I would be extremely upset of all BF3 amounted to was HD graphics and a map pack.
As far as putting down command posts and spawning goes, I would vote for a sort of "World in Conflict" style system.
In World in Conflict, there are control points scattered around the battlefield, that you can capture by moving units near them, much like in Battlefront/Battlefield. However, instead of only being able to call units in near the post itself, you could have them dropped anywhere within the area you control.
This could be especially helpful in case there are large distances between command posts. It would also reduce the number of spawn killings, since you would have a much broader spawn area to pick from.
