Ah, I knew eventually someone would bring up the leaked footage again. Guys, the leaked footage has been discussed, discussed, and discussed more. There is nothing here that hasn't already been proposed.

Lucasarts will never state the location of the HQ video because I don't think they have it. Since the FR BF III has been canceled, one would assume that the footage was just thrown out. Remember that FR said that some of the tech would be dying with them, and that leaves me to believe, that if the game is in development at all, then its totally different from what we saw.
Which implies that if (IF) the game is in development, then they pretty much had to start all over with making it. That means they aren't ale to make it like we saw. So, the big question: IF it is in development, and IF Spark has it, would Spark be able to make it as good as/better than BFII, or will it be failure?AlaskaAce1996 wrote:Lucasarts will never state the location of the HQ video because I don't think they have it. To add to what Darth Vader said, what we saw from that footage would never be remade into Battlefront 3 because Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron was indeed the PSP port of Battlefront 3. The only reason the PSP port survived was because Rebellion was making it.
If Lucas Arts (or Spark, who knows) was to remake the game in the trailer's image, then it would be a retelling of the story from Elite Squadron, which I assume we all know by now. And fans might not appreciate that because they would be essentially purchasing two of the same game but on different platforms = feeling ripped off and cheapened once again.
Therefore, the new developer of Battlefront 3 would need to create a new story, hence restarting the entire development process for the game.

Last I heard was that the new developer's were only using Cutscenes and none of the tech, is there a scene in Elite Squadron where a jedi uses Force Kung fu like in the leaked video?drunken hutt wrote:To add to what Darth Vader said, what we saw from that footage would never be remade into Battlefront 3 because Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron was indeed the PSP port of Battlefront 3. That and there was a Dark Kenobi in Free Radicals BF3 so Elite squadrons wasn't a complete port.
So if it has survived there are 2 parts too it.
The Story and The Engine/Gameplay.
Now we know that Free Radical had the rights to use the Unreal engine and we know that Spark love the Unreal engine.
But what we don't know is whether Free Radical were running a new engine of there own creation or whether they were modifying the Unreal engine.
Also new idea I've had, if Free Radical weren't running on the Unreal engine maybe Spark are going for a "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" look?
I firmly believe that Elite Squadron was the PSP version of Battlefront 3. Obviously, it wasn't a complete version due to the PSP's limitations and because of the choices that Rebellion made for the game.Last I heard was that the new developer's were only using Cutscenes and none of the tech, is there a scene in Elite Squadron where a jedi uses Force Kung fu like in the leaked video?

Below I will outline the similarities between Elite Squadron and the footage of Battlefront 3 that we have seen millions of times:
Both games offered the option to transition from ground to space in ships.
Both games had near identical HUDs (cross-hair, ticket numbers, health status etc).
Both games, for the first time in a Battlefront game, allowed you to play a clone trooper who wasn't wearing a helmet.
Both games had the same cut-scene of a duel between a Jedi and a vibro-sword wielding clone trooper. These two fighters are possibly X1 and X2.
Both games, for the first time in a Battlefront game, featured a Chiss (the 'kung fu' person you were referring to, though he didn't unleash such skills in Elite Squadron).
I could go on with more minutia, but i believe Elite Squadron was a half-baked port of Battlefront 3, even though many features in Battlefront 3 remained with Elite Squadron.
Finally, why is Elite Squadron titled Elite Squadron then, you say? There is not a single moment in the game were you or your brother are called an 'Elite Squadron'. You're simply called X1, and your brother, X2, there was no squad being mentioned at all.
This leads me to think that LucasArts did not want a PSP exclusive Battlefront game to be Battlefront 3 (presumably because they want a major console release for it) and so the bright guys over at the Marking team decided to name the game 'Elite Squadron'.
'Elite'? because it makes consumers think there is something awesome about it, and 'Squadron'? because the previous Battlefront game had that same word in its title; making it a quasi-predecessor to 'Renegade Squadron'.
So they were using the basic story?
Ayup, a scaled down version with less epicness than the intended console and PC versions of B3

tbh that was probably running the DS version lol....
Interesting enough the DS version of Elite Squadron also came out, but made by N-Space instead of Rebellion. Coincidently, that version also had similar bits and pieces that was in the B3 footage...

I'm sure one of us could create a connection to the company/game. If you were to say the most well known company you've worked for, what would it be?PANIC98 wrote:Independent studios, nothing well known.

Nah just pc games, mostly with help from undersides of LA. I called my bud at LA about it and he said that his superiors where trying to keep news and leaks about the game to a minimum. All he said he could tell me (NDAs are crap) is that to watch the TFU 2 dlcs and their might be something in them or something released after them?
Also dont make this a news post, but if you do keep my name out of it, my buds know i use Panic98 so i could get in trouble.
