That's what I'm afraid of. If it's a battlefield, I would expect a lot of obfuscation. Dust, smoke, focus blur, should be used to prevent snipers having too much of a foothold in the battle.

I saw this funny video earlier of a guy wearing EVA armor in Halo 3 kept on getting sniped at. No EVA armor in BF3 please.

Just don't wear snowtrooper armor in the forest, then I'm pretty sure you'll do just fine. I don't think there should be any blatant "shoot-me" armor in all scenarios though.

Well it is the future (kind of), why not have Solid Snake-esque Octo-Cameo? If that's too offensive to Star Wars fans then I guess comae wouldn't work in a city.

Despite the awesomeness of that Idea, it would be a little too overpowered in my opinion.

there is such a thing as 'city' camo, buts as most of urburn warefare is close quarters it doesnt help much. Only really useful at night/dusk and when fighting an enemy who doesnt have thermal scopes.

I don't remember thermal scopes in Star Wars. The only cities in Star Wars would be hard to stealth anyway. Cloud City is a place where cameo would make no sense. Cameo is not really needed anyway. If you kick enough ass cameo isn't needed

Sadly the snipers disagree with you; nothing protects you from them besides some good camo, cover, or a fast unit.

As for thermal...I don't think it was used in any of the movies, but it wouldn't be a stretch to say it existed with all the technology they had. I don't know, I've got mixed feelings on the matter. I hated the threshold thermal scope in MW2 because of how cheap it was, even when the enemy used the "cold-blooded" perk, and I don't want to see the BF series succumb to a "campground" game. However, if it was done properly, a thermal scope could be an interesting addition, and allow for better visual combat in levels where depth is lost by fog effects. I think the series to do without it.

Finally, on the note of city levels, Tipoca City, Cloud City, Coruscant?, and what else? I mean all the cities seem to have there own feel and coloration, so I'm not sure camo would even work.

in BF2, naboo theed was at night, so if the sharpshooters/snipers were all in black urban camouflage, they would be harder to spot unless they ran out in the open like AI tend to do. then thermal vision would become a must for killing the sharpshooters.
