I was thinking, what if command posts were taken in different ways, rather than just camping at them for a while?

clear a certain area of all defenders?

I don't if different way to capture them would make sense (unless you get convince me) but rewards for capturing certain points would be awesome. If you've ever played Dawn of War (or Company of Heroes) you'll know about different points (in an RTS environment but it could still apply to a shooter). I think that would be cool. Maybe certain points add a slight increment to your reinforcement que every second? Maybe one heals all units slowly? I can't think of much but you get the idea. Another CP idea I had is the ability to select the percentage of units to spawn at a point and the ability to drag an arrow from each CP to a location of the map. I can think of too many times where I capture a point deep in the enemy base just to have it taken back because my allies didn't spawn there. If I can say 80% spawn at the new post and send them to attack the middle of the base that would be cool. All of that would be optional of course.

I think they should stick with the way they have 'em.

A little tweaking couldn't hurt. At least make the AI smart enough to do what I have previously described than I'm okay with the way they are. Just they AI are so dumb. They just rely on getting you when you have low health.

It could litteraly just be if all defenders in area ABCD are dead, attacking team gain CP. I see that alot of MW2 online, your team usually just attacks the next CP, hardly anybody stays behind to defend the CP's and the other team are doing the same thing thus the game can end up being a giant circle.
But anyway, it was just an idea on how CP's could work differently :|

Well I was just having a thought that what if there was a different way. Capturing a command post by holding that position makes sense for a scouting outpost, but what about a base? does that make sense?

It all depends on how smart they can make the AI.

If the change the CP capturing too much it won't feel right. Maybe they can fit it into a different mode but I think it may muddy the standard play.

I don't know with larger maps if that makes sense. I think it might be funner if there was a different method to capturing larger command posts like bases, rather than lighter command posts like scouting outposts.

Could destroying key locations be one? Like attacking Echo Base on Hoth earns you points.
