I'm wondering wether there will ever be a Star Wars remake in 30,40,50 or so years time.

A remake of the series would be completely dreadful because you can't remake something that was so brilliant.

I refer to episodes 4,5 and 6 only. The others could be remade.

I've watched the movies again over the last few days. Return of the Jedi is still the best. I want to play Jedi Outcast, again now as I'm in a Star Wars mood. Shame the gamecube has no power cable and the wii broke.

None of them could be remade. And in that time, Lucas may be dead.

:5: I agree, although I pretty sure all will be remade. I don't want it anymore than the next guy but I think it will happen.

I think they will be successful because by the large time has passed, there will be a completely new audience that would probably not have seen the originals.

Films, no matter how good they are, get "old" in the eyes on new people.

The originals are twice as old as me, and I don't have a problem with them.

My old roommate thought they were too "old" to watch. It made me sad...

The special effects were improved with the adapted versions made in the 90s. Because of that, they appear quite new. The DVD ones I have are very high quality. They shouldn't have changed some parts (Eg: The force ghost darth vader at the end) but overall they are more pleasant to watch.

No white lightsabers. I am right that "The new hope" originally had all white lightabers, yes?

Actually I'm wrong. No idea where I heard that.

White lightsabers? That would be interesting. I like the "bad" SFX because it reminds you that it is just a movie. I don't need to be immersed with SFX like Avatar forced you to do. All I need it a good story and interesting characters and plot and I'm set. I found the worm monster hilarious because it looked so terrible.

I liked the pictures and the models they used, I think they looked more impressive than plasticity CGI.

CGI can look good. Some movies has used it well but I like those models, real sets and pictures very much. The recent star wars movies used CGI for everything with a green screen on every set (Virtually).

It appeared like that before they added color in what rotoscoping was in 1977.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscoping

There's a list at the bottom with the Star Wars trilogy on it. As well as Borderlands and an even bigger surprise, American Idol.

You didn't know they rotoscoped for Idol?

If that's what it was back then, yes.

It doesn't say, but they probably use it for removing shadows.
