I know it’s been a long time since I promised this review, but I have a lot on my plate coming from all areas. So without further ado…..the REVIEW

GOD OF WAR I

STORY

The God of War story is very, very good. It’s not Uncharted 2 quality, but it’s damn good. You play Kratos, a Spartan warrior who is a very angry man. When you see death coming your way, you call Ares (the God of War) to aid you. He then becomes the main antagonist after he makes Kratos do something of unspeakable measure which I will not ruin for anyone who hasn’t played it. You also meet many other Gods which aid you with magical power, which is much less dumb than it sounds. Great story.

GRAPHICS

I was unsure of how to approach the graphics for GOWI because it is dated (5 years old) but is still not atrocious. They are obviously no Killzone 2 or Modern Warfare 2 but the graphics themselves do not get in the way of the gameplay or fun.

SOUND

The music in GOWI is amazing. They used a full orchestra which sounds very full and epic. It reminds me of Lord of the Rings with very intense sounds and deep voiced choirs. The actual sound is also very well put together but I have to admit, nothing was absolutely astonishing.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay in God of War I is beautiful. It mixes brutal combos with little bits of RPG elements thrown in. These include upgrading your weapons and magic powers. The combat is not simply just button mashing but in-depth. There are aerial and ground attacks, as well as grapples and swinging of enemies every which way. The combat is very, very satisfying and extremely fun.

GOD OF WAR II

STORY

God of War II picks up where God of War I ends. You then see your Spartan army needs you help and you quickly take action. Unfortunately Zeus is a jerk and takes your power and kills you. This is not the end of Kratos however, as you escape Hades and seek revenge. You then learn about the Sister of Fate, who will send you back in time to the fight with Zeus. Even better than the first!

GRAPHICS

I was unsure of how to approach the graphics for GOWII as well. It does look sweet but of course still can’t match the graphics of today. It is still very epic.

SOUND

The music in GOWII is also amazing! A great score with more epic music. Amazing!

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay in God of War II is even better than God of War I. Same gameplay elements with new attacks and ways to kill the enemy. There are different weapons for Kratos to use not but they aren’t really that versatile and you will probably just stay with the Blades of Athena. Useless weapons aside the gameplay is awesome.

AS A COLLECTION

This is an amazing deal (I purchased it for $40). You get two great games with trophy support that you absolutely need to play. Sorry Ironman ;)

For people curious to why my rating is so low even though I spoke so highly of the games is because of the graphics being outdated but this does not make the experience any less enjoyable. I did however give it 0.6 extra points for the amazing deal it is.

Glad to know it was appreciated The God of War 3 review SHOULD be up sometime this weekend or early next week, hopefully. This could easily change as I got a lot to do.
