So what exactly did Lucasfilm do?
The game division should still be under LA right?'
EDIT:
Well we may get the original trilogy in their original forms in blu-ray now.

If they use the Expanded Universe material for the future films instead of retconning it, then I'll be fine.
Plus, this is good news for us Kingdom Hearts fans who always wanted Star Wars in the games
Also, this may be a good thing. Disney bought Marvel a while back and that was successful, look at the Avengers.

Because Star Wars is now in the hands of some people with actual talent?$&#*@ $&#*@ $&#*@! We are all going to die.....

They own the rights to LA, but I doubt they'll get rid of it. I figure it will be just like how Disney bought Marvel, except maybe with more input.Scott wrote:So what exactly did Lucasfilm do?

NO! Because the world's going end in 2 months, we don't get to see episode 7.Kelevra wrote:Because Star Wars is now in the hands of some people with actual talent?$&#*@ $&#*@ $&#*@! We are all going to die.....

But you have a point there.

Not exactly sure what to think about this, it's very conflicting for me. At first I was really p ***ed off at well, everyone. But we really need to give Lucas a break!! He's freaking old! He's retiring, it's probably the wisest decision he's made (and he has been giving this subject a ton of thought lately, who to hand the company to.) Listen to his interview. He wants this amazing universe he has created to be immortalized into the future, he, Kathleen, me and few other people actually think that Disney is the perfect candidate for this. He didn't do it for the $4.05 billion like people are saying. He knows how much all of this means to us, and never would want the world to forget it. I'm in favor of this. Anyone got a problem I would love to hear it. But don't take it out on him. The only thing I disagree with him about.... Is giving this immensely important job of his... to a girl.
And as far as the movies go, I'm positively against it. I don't think the movies were originally made to be continued on forever. I thought of them all as essentially a setup for all of the books, video games, T.V. shows and media etc. that would be placed in time before and after the 6 movies. I'm just a kid and wasn't around when the original trilogy was produced, so my problem's not with the nostalgia and classicness being spoiled by adding on to the legacy, even though I nevertheless love and admire these movies. I just think they weren't meant to be made, and I'm skeptical about them being ruined. Not b/c the copmany is owned by Disney, I'll write about that in the next paragraph. But I think that the less control the creator has over the movies, the more directions it will be taken by the new leadership. I know George is now "creative consulant" or something like that, but it just doesn't seem right. It'll be more like the Clone Wars series i think. I hope not, even though I do enjoy TCW in a different way than the way I enjoy the movies and games. I'm just praying they keep it classic.
Okay so as far as Disney technically "owning" the company, it's not as bad as it sounds. Most people are now expecting anything new from LA is gonna be just as crappy as John Carter and The Prince of Persia. But I deny this possibility. YES, BOTH OF THOSE MOVIES SUCKED. but guess who produced them? Disney itsself. Oh yeah there's this little company called Marvel, you might have heard of it. They are "owned" by Disney just as Lucasarts is, or will soon be. They made this cute little film last may called the Avengers. it made about a billion dollars within 19 days. and it kicked butt. NUFF SAID.
Lucasarts employees will be the ones working on the new Star Wars films, not the people who made The Princess and the Frog, guys. i'm almost positive that Disney will have little to no effect on any new Star Wars productions, except for maybe a bit of extra budget money.
All is well, guys. Look at the bright side, and watch that interview!

Which is good. The original trilogy was so successful because there were people who knew what they were doing (Gary Kurtz, Irvin Kershner) around to tell George when to shut the hell up. When you put Lucas in total control, you get the poorly-written, nonsensical nightmares that the prequels turned out to be.But I think that the less control the creator has over the movies, the more directions it will be taken by the new leadership. Star Wars has been an ongoing trainwreck since '99. They couldn't 'doom' it any more than Lucas already did.The Star Wars future is doomed....
