Some questions-gamepad / mod's?

Post by dutchschoon »

New here, I've always held SWBF series as my all time favorite game of all times. However I've always played it over ps2 for the past many many years.

Just as of today, I've bought the SWBF2 disk for my PC, I'm brand New to online gaming as a whole. However my game did not include instructions.. nor do I know the proper keyboard configuration... not to mention, I would much prefer the hand held feeling of a game pad like a ps2 controller.. any suggestions on a good gamepad?

(I do appreciate the accuracy of the mouse that's for sure- but moving around for me is rather clumsy with the key board tho)

My next question will be how do I download mod's and new maps?? What site do you use, do they cost money? What should I be cautious about? New map's alone is was the main reason I bought it for my PC.

your going to have to excuse my lack of computer literacy.

If you own a PS3 you can use a Dualshock 3. I'm pretty clueless to the other stuff.

Google is your friend.

Any typical Xbox 360/PS3 controller should be able to work with some tinkering. There's tons and tons of third party controllers available, so if neither of those work you might just have to do some searching. The ones I own are the MadCatz Wireless Control Pads.

All of the keyboard controls are shown in the games' options menu, and also during the tutorial mission and campaign.

Mods are free, and there are a handful of sites that allow you to download them. You can get most of them from FileFront.

To install them, you need to create a folder called 'Addons' in the game's /Gamedata directory. After that you just drop the included files into it. Most downloads will include a readme with more specific instructions.

To get started, I'd recommend Marvel4's BF1 Conversion Pack which adds back all of the maps from Battlefront 1.

Excellent info, and great advise on the bf1 maps! Thank you so much, I really do appreciated it. I've been trying to dial in the PS3 controller to the pc, It works with the downloaded driver, and I got it too work on the main screen / menu page, just can't get it to work for actual game play yet....

you have to set up the ps3 controller with the usb controller. It's a bit complicated but worth it. I use a program called motionjoy
