Do you mean Trigonometry? In the UK, education is much more broad than in the US. In the US it seems courses are based around very small things. I assume you are from the US because exams are called finals over there I've noticed.

Good luck with those exams and I hope everyone has a good Christmas. I'm hoping I wont be woken up too early. XD

yeah, I'm from the US. Right in the dead center of it to be specific. Trig = Trigonometry and then second semester we start pre calc = pre calculus.

Now what do you mean by broad in UK and small in US?

Here's another question, how much schooling is the equivelent of American High School Graduation?

Thanks

I meant your courses are much more specific. But in your case the trigonometry is only a part of the course. So you are doing a broader maths course?

"Here's another question, how much schooling is the equivelent of American High School Graduation?"

Do you mean how long is high school in the UK? Well it's done through the ages of 11-16. The qualification you get at the end of it is only done in the last two years however and are called GCSEs.

High school was horrible. I'm glad I'm in College now. I get to do relevant things rather than waste my time learning crappy things like atomic bonding.

I'm doing, Business Studies, Computing, Mathematics for two years for something called A2 which is a full A-level. Last year I did Geography for only AS level which is like half an A-Level. I'm doing Electronics AS this year. I got a B for the geography and an A for the others which I hope to get overal As with. Electronics I hope to get an A as well. Bs wont be a disaster though.

What gives your interest for maths and government?

I'm sorted for christmas but not looking forward to the time after it as i'll be starting the month of hell, revision for possibly the worst set of exams i've ever had: Electromagnetism, maxwells equations, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, maths and nanophysics...

But thats some time away and for now I can relax :D

And if i'm correct crytek, you should be looking forward to C3 in January aswell as various other exams, good luck :D

And Good luck to everyone else having exams around this time.

And of course have a very merry Christmas and happy new year!

Well, let me explain how finals were done.

I had four finals on Monday, which were English, Physics, Band, and Spanish II. They were my 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th hour classes.

Yesterday I had Trig, Government, and Choir, which = 2nd, 4th, and 6th hour classes. The teachers give us an hour and a half for each test, but some teachers go easy and we have plenty of time.

Its not that I'm interested in government or trig, those were the only finals on tuesday because choir doesn't count really.

And to the question of doing broader math, I have done algebra and geometry and the devil "algebra II". Whether or not those count I do not know.

You guys are so lucky that school only lasts till your sixteen. I'm sitting here almost 18 and halfway done with my last year of school.

That isn't the same in all states, though right?

It's a strange idea that someone would still be at compulsory education during adulthood.

Compulsory education will be rised to 18 in the UK in 2013, I think.

well, school goes to 18, but I think you can drop out at 16, however you can't really get a half decent job except maybe McDonalds.

Ah right. If it was compulsory then you'd get all the dumb people keeping the intelligent people behind. Sounds harsh but that's the truth, so it does matter, even if you'd stay on regardless.

Nice Nitro

Well, if you don't go to school the whole time, you can't go to college and you can't also get a job that will get you out of manual labor. Also, I heard that you can't even get a job at some resturaunts without getting a GED or Diploma. A GED is just what you get if you take computer courses on line to get a diploma after dropping out of school.
