These look great! I just wish we could see the little ones at a higher resolution.

A fantastic project across PS3, Xbox and Wii for Lucasarts. I was lucky enough to lead the art on the Wii sku, rebuilding every piece of art from the ground up - to be better optimised, play really well and most importantly - no less beautiful.

Here is a small selection of screenshots and assets from the game.

The screenshots look better than pre-alpha stage! And Chris Matthews who posted it lives in Nottingham which is where Crytek UK headquarters is!

Yep. In fact on his page it says he's a senior artist for Crytek UK. Which begs the question, why would he be posting these pictures only a little over a month ago? Hmmmm. I messaged him to find out :P

Haha, didn't notice that, but it sure confirms it! Be sure to tell us what/if he responds!

Will do!

And I don't know about you, but those screens definitely don't look like a Wii game..could he have meant Wii U? Which might explain the whole LucasArts Wii U game at E3..

Sorry, he probably means the Wii. The Wii can look great, especially when the screenshots are so small. Battlefront 3 was being made for PC, 360, PS3, and the Wii. No reason to think anything beyond what he said.

I heard back from Chris Matthews after I sent him a message on the screenshots. Here's what my message was:

Hi there,
I just wanted to say I love the artwork you did on the assets for the Battlefront 3 project. I'm looking into getting into game design, and I'm a huge fan of Star Wars as well. The pictures you posted were pretty recent too, does that mean you're still working on the game? I'd love to see some more pictures of your work regarding the project, as well as maybe hear about your experiences working on it!

Thanks a lot, hope to hear back from you,

Alex

And here was his response, super quick!

Hey dude -
Thanks for the message. After Free Radical closed the project was handed to another developer without the game engine (That we owned) to be finished. I understand that company closed before it was completed.

Those images are pretty old and unfortunately for most of us who worked on that game we have very little to show for it now.

Still - almost everyone involved have moved onto bigger and better things. It's a hard industry to be in. Better start getting good fella :)

Chris

Interesting. It seems like he's either referring to Pandemic or Slant Six, both who were rumored to be working on the game after Free Rad. went under. I guess that means CrytekUK aren't making it :( Maybe LucasArts is doing it in-house...If anyone knows anything about game design, how long would it take to create a new engine but with all of the assets still intact?
