I haven't heard anything about what happened to their project. Was it just deleted or is it in a computer somewhere? Does Lucas Arts have it? Maybe it was bad and they got rid of it. I wish someone knew.

Some of it was salvaged by Rebellion and turned into Elite Squadron, the rest was lost due to the death of Free Radical.
I'm sure someone has a link to a former topic on the subject though....

Probably would say my search was too common.spartan64 wrote:http://www.battlefront3.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=932
Yeah, we have a search bar.

I understand about it becoming elite squadron before but I was wondering where "FREE RADICALS ORIGINAL COPY" is.
If that's the case, then it's gone FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
Either that or LA has it somewhere.

If they did have it could they have given that copy to Spark Unlimited? *wow that made me shiver*Terrabyte20xx wrote:If that's the case, then it's gone FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

But then why would Spark need a pre-production? Pre-Production is to see if the game can be made and run well, what Free Radical had was already fully functional. They would have just gone strait to full production.
Then again, Lucas Arts could have just wanted Spark to make something just to see if they were capable of making it as good as LA would want.
Either way, I just hope they keep the idea of ground to space, and the other ideas they had.

if i remember correctly free radical had there own copyright engine, that spark cant use, so they would have to start from scratch.

Well here's a thought: what if LucasArts wasn't pleased with the quality of FreeRadical's product and that's why they decided to pull funding, which would mean that Spark Unlimited's project, if it is Battlefront 3, would be of a higher quality than Free Radical's?
If Spark is making BF3 it would only be because FreeRadical's project that we all saw in the trailer is inferior to the one Spark is making.

This and even if Lucas did pass on free radicals game Spark would probably want to start from scratch anyway out of professional integrity, use the old game for inspiration here and there but mostly do it their way, make something they can all be proud of.snicker wrote:if i remember correctly free radical had there own copyright engine, that spark cant use, so they would have to start from scratch.

Exactly. They may take conceptual inspiration from FreeRadical's project, but that's the extent.Sam wrote:This and even if Lucas did pass on free radicals game Spark would probably want to start from scratch anyway out of professional integrity, use the old game for inspiration here and there but mostly do it their way, make something they can all be proud of.snicker wrote:if i remember correctly free radical had there own copyright engine, that spark cant use, so they would have to start from scratch.
But who's to say they won't make it worse? You only have to look at Legendary and Turning Point to realise what's at stake here...RogueStarkiller wrote:Exactly. Well then, you have the option of blind optimism, or blind pessimism. Make your choice. You can only hope for the best.

If you play elite squadron it has all of the parts you see in the leaked content as gameplay.
Has the x1 figthing his clone gene template i forget that jedis name but he turns out to be Kota form TFU's old padawan
It has the order 66 scene however very much dumbed down without an epic cutscene.
And it even has the coruscant map seen in the trailer.
