'Handhelds' is the most common name for them.

The PSP is pretty much at the end of its lifespan. If it's a portable exclusive, it will almost certainly be for the PS Vita, which has decent graphics and dual analog sticks. So it's much closer to a console experience.
But it isn't a console... Processing power, graphics, Online, Screen size and much more are missing or just plain suck even with the PS Vita.
Mind you, some PS Vita games (particularly Uncharted: Golden Abys and Escape Plan) can output visuals that
almost look as good as a console experience. Some of the launch titles so far are also capable of online support. Plus, the Vita has the twin analogue sticks, which, for me, would solve the biggest issue I had with the Battlefront PSP games.
