Gears of War + Gears of War II

I just finished the original Gears tonight and I thought it was a fantastic game. Even the elements that would normally bother me (2 types of enemies that aren't bosses/special, few weapons, sometimes stupid ally AI, relatively repetitive gameplay, etc) didn't seem to.

It was a really great time that had lots of gore, blood, violence, gore, blood, profanity...gore. Everything I love in a game! But I do have one question for anyone else who has beaten it or even played a good chunk of it, what the hell just happened? There's a war on our planet (I assume) yet somehow the Locusts are burrowed everywhere. There are stranded people (anyone who isn't fighting by the looks of it) that are tossed aside. Then a lot of crap that made no sense (where was the transition between resonator delivery and bomb placement?).

I'm so confused and I haven't even started Gears II yet. You post a spoiler about it and you get banned :\/:

I know right? I played through it, but I really don't know what happened. I think the locust are aliens that came to our planet and burrowed under it(?) and attack from underground xD I really cant remember! Thats why I don't want the second, because the story didn't really make sense to me, and the game never really said specifically whats going on!

Well I highly recommend the second one as it is better than the first in almost every way. It explains the story more (hopefully the third will cap everything off), has more weapons, more enemies, new ways to kill enemies, new ways to "use" enemies, and some amazing set pieces.

I can't freakin' wait for the third.

A little curious, do you play these on X360 or PC? These are on PC right?
