Trouble with my website is that almost no one searches for "Crytek UK". If only I used a better domain It would be higher with search terms including "TimeSplitters". I've learnt that search engines are dumb and like the words in domain names best.

Why don't you pick up a timesplitters domain then?
I suppose I could do. I just haven't been bothered. I've moved the domain once already and it took a little bit of effort to do and even then I did it badly because I didn't leave any redirect.
What should it be named? timesplittersblog.whateverischeapest?
I will need a new domain for a new website that I will start for the game I'm making. Did I mention the game? It's going to be a 2D top-down shooter for OSX, Windows and Linux. It's going to be quite advanced, with a 720x1280 resolution, nice OpenGL graphics, brilliant music (From the Timesplitters series and remixes) and expertly rendered models (Not by me).
You can really see what I mean here - http://google.com/trends?q=timesplitter ... all&sort=0

I would go with something that has the keywords in it. So if you want people to see time splitters 4 come up, I would included the `4` in there.
Looks pretty cool

The game looks cool? That isn't surprise or sarcasm, I'm just not sure what you are referring to.
I remember why I've not bought another domain. Since my blog is about Crytek UK and not just timesplitters 4, it would be misleading to use something like timesplitters4blog.com or similar. If I create a domain like that; use it to redirect to crytekuk.info as the main domain and tell google and other engines about it, will they rank the new domain just as high as they would have done if it was the main domain? So for the query "Crytek UK", crytekuk.info will come up and with "TimeSplitters 4", the new domain will come up, giving me the same SEO benefits without a misleading domain name?
I better shift this discussion over to a separate topic.

thats how I ended up here.Nitro wrote:I would go with something that has the keywords in it.
and crytek I am unfarmiliar with the graphical labels on that link, I think I can guess what search volume index means but am drawing a blank on news reference volume, what does it mean?
and it seems you pick up most of your activity in news reference volume.
It's a index for the amount of searches on particular queries. As you can see Timesplitters is far up there.
I have this - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 850AAAh23w
I think the person on there suggested to have something like timesplitters4andcrytekuk.com. Is that a good idea for a secondary domain or isn't "crytekuk" needed since I have that with crytekuk.info?
I only search engines were smart we wouldn't need to spend so much time trying to convince them.

Do you have a link to your concepts for your upcoming game? That one link is too google trends. Anyway it sounds like fun. I'm in the process of creating Game Development Documents for the game my friend and I are going to make. Good luck on your future project

You could have 2 sites? One for generalized info on CrytekUk and a separate one dedicated to Timesplitters.
I agree with nitro. 2 sites could ease the pain and reduce the stress
"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me"
I can't really split them up. I wouldn't know how and it would be a lot to work with. It's easiest as it is now.
People can download the game to try an early version out with links here - http://crytekuk.info/forums/viewtopic.p ... p?f=5&t=56
I have more information spread over this topic - http://forums.tsmusicbox.com/index.php?topic=6939.0 (Read from the last page since the first part is very outdated)
Hmm, timesplitters.info hasn't been registered. It seems like a good opportunity. But should 4 be added? Maybe adding 4 wont benefit the ranking for "timesplitters" alone which is the most searched for out of the two.
I'll buy it for now. I can always buy another. It's only £10 for a year.
It's working now http://timesplitters.info
How long does it take for google to index new domains? I'm getting the feeling that the new domain didn't work.

Info isn't really needed. I think I might try out timesplitters4andcrytekuk.com for a year to test it. I wont buy it for more than that because I could be wasting the domain if it fails.mikill wrote:timesplitter4info.net??

I have an update.
I got told by an expert (apparently) that http://timesplitters.info with a redirect would make no difference. He said I need to get rid of duplicate content with at least using excerpts for post lists. He also said keyterms should appear slower to the left of titles and other content. I also added h1 tags to post titles.
I've converted http://timesplitters.info into it's own mini-website. I've tried making it look nice to search engines so let's see how far this mini-website will get up the rankings.
