LucasArts Makes a Promise.

Post by ShadowNB97 »

Now, LucasArts plans to return with a bang – with better games

It seems LucasArts has now realized that their games in the past few years have been to........well, average. Here is some of what has been said,
In recent years, LucasArts hasn't always done a good job of making games. We should be making games that define our medium, that are competitive with the best of our industry, but we're not. That has to change.
and one other thing was,
Our priority is to create authentic, immersive, high quality Star Wars games.
Sounds to me like they're going to bring something back.

Make a promise and keep one are very different things.

Well then let's just hope this is just a real promise, not empty words.

Of course!

I think the entire gaming industry has noticed Lucas Arts' disappearance. Not only missing quality games but developing/publishing games in general has not been happening. Not in the same volume anyway.

Hopefully they can bounce back. Whether it's BF3 or not, I want to see more Star Wars games. I really want KoTOR 3 but I know I don't have a chance in hell.

They should stick with making sequels from their successful games. When we get enough with sequels, they can go ahead and make something new. Empire at War was pretty successful and I think it needs a sequel. Though we don't really have many RTS games. What about Jedi Starfighter? I loved it!

I get the feeling that Lucasarts' idea of 'better games' is just make everything larger and stupider.

"Remember when Yoda pulled an X-Wing out of the swamp? People liked that. So let's make some kid who's apparently a million times stronger than Yoda drag a STAR DESTROYER out of the sky."

"Well, everyone hated that. Remember when Luke fought that rancor thing? Lets have a clone (because nobody has any issues with cloning now) of that same stupid kid fight something 2x larger than a rancor!"

"&$#%, nobody liked that either! Alright, check this out... why don't we have this kid's cousin throw a PLANET into the sun. Bad ass."

If it WEREN'T Star Wars, I would probably think so as well.

That's the issue with Star Wars in the EU and prequels. Nobody knows how to write a good story, so they just make everything huge and hope people will be distracted from the fact that nothing makes sense.
