That caught my attention aswell. It also implies that they are working for a publisher with atleast 1 other game in development that has already been announced.

We shall see.
That means a lot. Why didn't I see this before? LucasArts is working on TOR which was already announced...?

I think I just confirmed that LucasArts is Spark Unlimited's publisher. :D

I sent 2 emails at Spark and they should be somewhere in this thread. The last one stated that they are working on an announcement for E3 2011, although their publisher will be attending instead. It also mentions something else. So I went back in time and read an article on an ex-free radical employee.

(ex-free radical employee)
"LucasArts never told us when they wanted to release, literally never," he said. "We didn't do any press, they kept it totally under wraps."
taken from - http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/946/946015p1.html

I then compared this with the reply message that spark sent me and found a match:

(Spark Unlimited)
"But I could easily see the publisher not wanting to say anything till next year. A publisher could see an announcement as cannibalizing the press and attention to other games. Publisher routinely move project news and dates around based on development and market conditions. So, we could easily be working in the dark for awhile. We won’t know till the publisher says “go”.
(this email should be in this thread)

It is so obvious that this is LucasArts. They seem to not tell their developers when their games get released. Its just how they market and stuff.

Although i'm not sure if they are making BF3.

They told FREE RADICAL nothing about Battlefront III's release. That's a single developer. How exactly does that apply to every developer that has made, or will make a game for Lucasarts? If they were working on the same game, I guess the same 'rules' could apply, but we don't know:

1. How other publishers go about discussing media releases with their developers.
2. How many other developers Lucasarts has left in the dark about upcoming announcements (if any).

It also seems as if there is a difference in details. The Spark response notes that news dates and whatnot are constantly shifting, meaning they would have to have some knowledge of what's going on upstairs. Whereas Free Radical apparently knew nothing. But both sides of the coin here depend on Lucasarts using the exact same business strategy for 5+ years, which is somewhat doubtful.

I'd think that most publishers would want to keep their projects under wraps until the right time for an announcement to avoid leaks.

"LucasArts never told us when they wanted to release, literally never"

If this guy meant it literally, it doesn't happen very often, and Free Radical might have known the announcement date just like Spark did.

Just wanted to bump this:

I then replied to one of the designers:
Spartan64 wrote:Ok, no problems. I think I should worry about more important things for the time being. Just one more question. Ok, I don't have to know what the project is as this is up to the publisher to decide but is there a chance or should you expect that the announcement will be held at E3 2011?
And a reply from the designer:
Spark Unlimited wrote:We are all working towards an announcement by the publisher sometime this show season which includes E3 2011. But I could easily see the publisher not wanting to say anything till next year. A publisher could see an announcement as cannibalizing the press and attention to other games. Publisher routinely move project news and dates around based on development and market conditions. So, we could easily be working in the dark for awhile. We won’t know till the publisher says “go”.
