The thing is, most companies are easy to figure out. You can guess that if Rockstar North put a countdown on their website, it would most likely have something to do with Grand Theft Auto, etc.
I wonder why they'd choose CC over E3, though. Unless LucasArts (or whoever their publisher may be) announces something at that time, and Spark fills in the details at Comic-Con.
It shouldn't be hard to work out why. E3 will show off all the years upcoming AAA titles that will dominate gaming press headlines. So an announcement of Battlefront 3 will easily get overshadowed by announcements of games that are obviously more popular (think of a new Halo, CoD and Zelda), then when you add the preview events for games such as ME3, U3, Skyrim, GoW3, Battlefield 3 etc, Battlefront 3 won't get much spotlight.
On the other hand, Comic Con isn't the sort of convention where many game reveals take place, so a Battlefront 3 announcement is a good opportunity for LA to allow it the attention they think is appropriate. Additionally, Comic Con is a convention which everyone is allowed to attend, while E3 is a trade-only event and can only be attended if you've been invited, you're a member of the press, or if you're part of the overall gaming/ technology industries.
Hence, if LA unveil Battlefront 3 at Comic Con, the general public (which will mostly comprise pop culture fans - a lot of which will be Star Wars ones) will be able to play and see Battlefront 3, and create more hype than E3 would in the process. And since Star Wars gaming fans have been longing for a proper successor to Battlefront 3 for years, more interest will be created at Comic Con than at E3.
Also, If you remember a few years back when LA announced the 'Infinities' DLC for The Force Unleashed at Comic Con, fans went crazy and their word-of-mouth allowed the DLC to be known throughout the Star Wars fandom community (the DLC sold so well that LA decided to bundle it with a retail re-release of TFU)
So I think LA want to take that fan/community approach to Battlefront 3's announcement.
