I did my routine Google News-ing of BFIII and it looks like it's more than possible, it's VERY likely to come out this year. It seems that instead of a few small sites, everyone has been talking about it lately. Google News Battlefront III and bask in the amount of articles and rumours.
EDIT: Also prepare to see a lot of stolen news. Oh well
FURHTER EDIT: As I read more I realise that it's not much new, but my excitement remains.

As I was coming to check this site today I forgot that I wasn't logged in. I noticed that the "News and Rumors" section wasn't viewable or accessible unless I logged in. Seeing as how we've been advertising this site in the twitterbomb, I would suggest granting full access to the public if possible.

There was a very important reason why we didn't make it public...

but seeing as many people know about the game and constantly type battlefront 3 on google, I think it is wise to change it and make it public again.

...no. But I will add a notice in the header to let people know that it is hidden until registration.

What is that reason?

The only way it would come out this year if they are almost done with the game. In theory anyway.

It has to be announced several months before it's released, otherwise it will have terrible opening sales.

And when it's announced, it wouldn't usually be a finished product. Maybe through 3/4 of production?
If I remember, Spark have put up on their website that their game was to be announced in 2010, well that didn't happen and it's now 2012. They might be well through their game by now and I wouldn't expect a Battlefront game to be developed over 3 years. Taking all these notes into account makes me think that an announcement would be at least before the end of the world this year. GDC is almost around the corner and according to some theories we could get an announcement before the conference, so Spark have something to show and tell. There is also E3 and in the past Elite Squadron was announced at the place. If not these then it will be comic-con.

It'll probably be E3. The GDC is for developers and doesn't attract nearly enough attention as the more fan/consumer based E3. If they were going to pick a convention to announce it, why not pick the biggest one?
