I just got a new computer. So if/when BF3 comes out, I'll probably actually be able to play it. :D

I'm guessing no one here cares too much, but I wanted to share with someone. :P

I always like hearing about new rigs as well.

I'm in the market myself. Seeing as my computer is 6 years old and I'm heading off to University.

nvidia Geforce GT 540M

It's nothing eye-poppingly wonderful, but it's sure better than anything I've touched before.

It's better than my archaic 1.6Ghz (single core) processor and 512MB of RAM. My graphics card and every other spec aren't worth mentioning.

Hopefully you'll be playing BFIII on the max settings soon enough :)-

You have a damn fine computer. Is it custom made?

It's one of these. I have an uncle who owns a computer store, and he ordered a customized version with some improved specs (i7 instead of i5, et cetera). All around, I'm pretty happy with it. Huge improvment over my old Dell D620. I have it dual booted with Ubuntu and Windows 7. So far, I can't seem to get the video card working with Ubuntu, but that's not a huge deal because I plan on using the Ubuntu partition for common daily activities (web browsing and such) and using the Windows part mainly for gaming, which is probably the only time I'll really need the video card working.

As someone who uses a dual boot with XP and Ubuntu, I say don't bother. I don't know much about partitioning drives, but if you have a lot on the Ubuntu side that's unreadable from the Windows one, you should tweak that. Unless of course you absolutely want/need Ubuntu. Opera on 7 is most likely as fast if not faster than any Linux browser so even everyday tasks are fine with Windows.

I got Ubuntu, quickly became disappointed and now have a split drive that I can luckily still use for the Windows side.

Nice system!

Well since we're all posting specs I may as well post mine.

-PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.2GHz (3.1GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
-WIRELESS CARDS: Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO
-MEMORY/RAM: 8GB DDR3 at 1600MHz
-VIDEO CARD: 3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology

What makes me a little mad is that I Almost got a 3.2GHz processor. But my mother (who owned me most of the money I used to pay for it) decided she had given enough (200$ short of what she really owned) and decided to stop, just 160ish dollars short.

I have more or less everything working on the Ubuntu half. (Actually, technically Kubuntu. I switched over because I dislike how they use Unity in Ubuntu now.) I also tried gaming on it for the first time. I haven't gotten around to buying any PC games yet, but I tried out an Open Source game called Sauerbraten.

Highest graphics levels available. 60 fps. I know that that isn't too special for some people, but I'm not used to being spoiled like this. :D

Now all I need is a mouse. Controlling with a trackpad is hard. :(
