TimeSplitters

So who here has played any of the TimeSplitters games?
I first owned TimeSplitters 2. It was brilliant. I then got Future Perfect which I sill play to this day. These games demonstrate what really makes games fun. The games are fast-paced, insane and brilliantly simple but fun. The best thing is the split screen. Today's games focus far too much on on-line gameplay. This isn't as fun as social playing. The mapmaker, story and challenges give more than could ever be wished for.
Also you can play as a monkey. How brilliant is that?
You have to play them to believe it.

I watched one of my friends play the 2nd one one time. It looked pretty sweet! ;)

I loved time splitters 2, especially with the multiplayer mode. The bots worked really well and it always fun setting yourself and a few friends of trying to beat an army of quite hard bots. The monkey was a definite win, they even went far enough to make sure he couldn't man a turret because he is too small!

In Future Perfect, the bots are rather dumb but it's funny. Sometimes the bots will run into each other and get stuck or will run into a wall.

The early games were great (1+2) but recently I feel the franchise's quality has gone down.

Personally I love the time splitters series. I started by borrowing TS 2 from a friend and played through the main story line on easy and normal and ended up returning it. I later bought TS 1 and fell in love with it's face-paced game play, and the expansion of the levels as the difficulties got higher (the graphics left a little to be desired, but, hey, I'm also a retro gamer so it won't keep me from playing ). TS 1 was also the game which made me learn and respect the name Free Radical Design. Then I bought and beat TS 2, the subtle comedy and reminiscent game play was just wonderful. Then came Time Splitters future perfect, it seems to me that they sacrificed a few of the games features for a better storyline. I mean it's a good game in and of itself, still has the fast paced gameplay, weapons from eras innumerable, and the return of the brick. But, even though it was a god game, it seemed to detract from the heart of the franchise. If they made another like, I would probably still buy it, but it would still be a stretch to truly call it TimeSplitters.

Maybe Brink or Vanquish would be interesting to a TS fan?
