THAT is the only thing worth mentioning about this whole recent wave of rumors. Even as far as rumors go, what GameInformer bit on and ran with was so flimsy it was easily shot down. It was all really ridiculous actually. There have been far better rumors and hints from Spark than what GameInformer posted which amounted to nothing.
Spark Unlimited's website said:
We are in FULL PRODUCTION of a high-profile, popular game property for a major publishing partner. With the public disclosure expected sometime in 2012, we are looking for innovative and creative professionals to bring to life a Triple-A game for an awaiting, highly critical audience.
and suddenly GameInformer turned that into "OH YES, THIS PROVES SPARK UNLIMITED IS DEFINITELY MAKING BATTLEFRONT 3!!! EVERYONE FREAK OUT ON TWITTER!".
The other piece of evidence that GameInformer ran with was that Spark was not denying they were making Battlefront 3 on twitter. This shows an surprisingly incredible lack of knowledge for an organization, GameInformer, that should know developers in their industry can often neither confirm nor deny their projects due to strict NDA's from their respective publishers. Spark has stated this NUMEROUS times on twitter that they will not confirm or deny anything about their current project that would compromise the NDA. GameInformer practically treated this as tantamount to an admission of the release date for Battlefront 3 and again, twitter freaked out.
I didn't realize it was this easy to start rumors or that people, even reputable industry sources such as GameInformer, would print something so flimsy. I guess the only good thing is that it raised awareness about the desire for Battlefront 3.
