Command Posts

Alright, guys, It's been a while since I posted anything, but I had a ingenious idea...What if, instead of spawned command posts, you and your enemy starts with only one command post, and you have to fight, and secure an area, so when the area is secure, the post can be set (automatically, of coarse). It would be fun to actually fight for a specific area....with the exception of maybe 4 to five command posts to be set, depending on the size of the map. This would improve strategic levels greatly, and thus, the need for smarter AI. Tell me what you think...

This sounds like neutral command posts. Can you explain more?

Yes, okay, say you're spawned onto the battlefield from a original command post, for instance, like the battle of Geonosis: You would be dropped off in a gunship, and you have to fight to form a command post, because, obviously, there wouldn't really be a "Command post" out on the battle Field, so you hop off the gun ship, run across the battlefront in something like "No mans land", and set up a command post, most strategically to win the battle. Or to make things more "realistic" you could have a clone engineer, (or any other class like that) to construct a bunker, or a "fort" so to speak. What do you think?

But however, these command posts CAN be taken...

You know what would be REALLY cool would be that if you managed to gather 5 of the same type of class, say, engineer-class, at any location on a map that wasn't too close(a predetermined proximity) to an existing command post that you would be able to create a new command post. The new command post would not affect reinforcement drain but could only be used as a new spawn location. Also, the enemy team would only be able to destroy it rather than convert it and would do so by the same method as normally capturing a command post.
Sort of like the tactical insertion from Modern Warfare that takes several guys to build but only for you and your team that can be destroyed.

Then you would need a "commander" to command such an action...

I really like this idea. It would add so much more to the game every time you play it. Each time, you'd venture for a differnet command post, and each time, you'll learn where best to place them. I can't see how it would make things unfair at all -- either side has equal change to capture the area.
If anything, there should be a limit to how many places you can command; perhaps you start off as the "commander" and you, as the commander, can designate up to five or so areas to set up the post. The trick is to get to the area first, and to clear all enemies before the post can be set up. I'd imagine you would not be able to make a command post near the enemies post, and also, you would be unable to actually set one up until the enemies in the designated area have been cleared. Makes sense.
The only problem I forsee is that people might become so enamoured in the run and shoot aspect of the gameplay they might not care to consider where to set up posts or might just not bother at all. It should definitely be an option for those who want that, though.
