If some home-brewers can make something this neat, why can't Lucasarts?

That was actually quite bad. The concept is cool, but the product wasn't. Watch the delay from input to output. That's a lot of delay for such slow movements. I think the Kinect could do much better. It's most likely inefficient code.

The whole idea of a motion controlled Star Wars game really fits better on the Move or Wii to begin with. Regardless of platform the current "attempt" would/will suck.

There are some really cool ways in which people have hacked the kinect and used it in applications Microsoft had no idea it could do.

I saw a video with some sort of odd holographic projection using the kinect, will try to find it later

If you are going to make a motioned-controlled Star Wars game, the Move or Wii would definitely be the better choice of system. You've got something physical to hold, and you still have all of the buttons of the controller, so the whole friggen game doesn't have to be a rail shooter. (or a rail-melee?)

But even then you have to take into account how the friggen thing is gonna work. If an adult were to play that game, they'd probably do nothing but simple, lazy swings just to get the friggen thing over with.

A kid on the other hand, is going to be spazzing the hell out. Maybe even to the point where the game can't keep up with them. It isn't fun one way, and not functional the other.

When I play something like Jedi Academy, Jedi Power Battles, hell even Force Unleashed, I know I sure as hell can't pull off half the stunts these guys can. I'm not a friggen super-human ninja-wizard like they are. Having all of the impressive, flashy moves condensed to just a few buttons combinations or mouse clicks has worked fine for years. That's how it should continue to work.

As far as the racing/flying segments go... Sure.

Edit: "Friggen" count: 4
