My and other's ambitious projects

I am currently developing a replica of the Battlefront Galactic Conquest game.
No joke, I really am. Here's renegade squadron:
Gameplay will be similar to the Elite Squadron Multilayer Galactic Conquest (no battles

). It won't be real time like EAW but it will be a turned based strategy just like Battlefront.
This will all be done on the GameMaker engine. For people who don't know what GameMaker is, GM is a simple game making program that is powerful in creating 2D games in the aid of object orientating programming (oop). You can create typical scrolling shooters, maze games, platform and board games. GM has some 3D functionality but I won't be using it on my game. Other than that, scripting can be used to program more complex stuff like A.I.
I'm not a good graphic artist so I download images from Google. Though I am aiming to make the graphics much prettier than BF2's. If you think that you are good at drawing, you could certainly help.
Hmmm... I have 3 months. Sounds like a tough thing to do, but I'm doing it anyways.
Oh, and when I finish it, I will eventually post it.

Want to explain the gameplay a bit for those not familiar with the PSP games? From what I can guess from that image, it looks like Risk.

Something ambitious in GameMaker? Welcome to hell my friend
It's going to be a lot of work in the engine. Are you using the simple D&D or are you doing any GMC or C coding? Oddly enough a game like this is probably simpler to code. I wish you well though and have had quite some experience with GM before so if you need help I may be able to assist.

Ha!

You have no idea.
And yes, I have spent some time with GM as well as coding. I don't really need help however with the graphic side of things, I might as well need a hand.

The BF2 GQ is still similar to the PSP versions but with some small differences. There are no 'space points' (not planets but positions along a trade route that units can move to and attack) on the PSP version. There is no such thing as classes like sniper or engineer but there are 3 upgradeable options (technology). 1. Weaponry - Gives more credit for customization. 2. Logistic - The amount of troops a planet can hold. 3. Infantry - Reducing damage.
You can buy 'one-shot bonuses': Insurgency - Turns an enemy planet of the player's choice neutral. Hero hire - Play the entire battle as the hero. Distraction - Opponent misses their next turn.
Other than that. You can also buy commanders for specific regions just like BF2.
Elite squadron has an option to avoid playing in the battles so the result will be random but with some variables.

Just wanted to share my newly discovered ambitious project for the summer. I plan on learning 4 more programming languages (Python, Java, Perl, and LISP) as well as extend my C++ knowledge all while holding down a summer job, two writing gigs and an extra math course I'm taking.
It's going to be a long summer.

Well, while we're on about
ambitious projects,
Myself and a small team of modders are completely rebuilding the 2001 game Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds from the ground up. I'm not sure the sort of graphics you're looking for Spartan, but I could rip a few sprites from the game and send them your way if you need units.
(Speaking of which, we could use a few more modellers and concept artists on board ourselves)

Nah, thanks anyway.

I specifically need planet sprites and MarkSolo will be designing them. If anyone else wants to help with the planets/or other graphics, send me a message.

Kelevra is a coder? I never knew...

I'm interested. Could you explain further?
