The Roller Coaster Tycoon thread

Some stuff on one of my past (childhood) favorite games

Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 was one of my favorite and most addictive games on the PC. If you played Sims City or Zoo Tycoon, they are pretty much the same. Though this was a long time ago. The latest in the series: Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 in my opinion really did dominate all other business management games. Unfortunatly I can't play it anymore since I don't have the disk :(

Anyways... RCT3, developed by Frontier Developments and published by Atari (7 years ago). Well received especially an 8.5 from IGN. I had great fun especially when riding my own custom made rollercoasters! Since the first 2 in the series were isometric, you couldn't really ride the rides. Then the expansions were released. Wow! Now you can have swimming pools and animal enclosures! Yea, thats basically RCT3. :8):

If you haven't played this game at least download a free demo and try it out! It's better playing it yourself than someone like me talking about it.

What I really wanted to point out and the number 1 purpose of this thread:
I have heard news that a 4th roller coaster tycoon will be made. The game is actually added to IGN with Atari as publisher and Frontier as developer. So I might think this game might be released. I know frontier are working on a secret project but is it too secret to be RCT4? I am having the same feeling like the one I had a while ago "Wow, BF3! Just imagine".

I enjoyed the first 2 a lot more than 3. Most simulation/RTS style games, I tend to like a lot more on a 2D/2.5D plane.

The 2nd one does seem more realistic with the business side of things but I do think that the 3rd one was more concentrated towards a younger audience. Younger means easier, too easy for me and unrealistic. Apart from the poorly designed people, the game had acceptable graphics. Though this was in 2004. Who knows what the 4th will be like.

I'm the same way (Stronghold Crusader, Age of Empires, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, etc) especially after the sour taste Empire at War had left in my mouth.

My favourite RTS oddly enough is 3D however (Dawn of War: Dark Crusade). Awesome game for fans of quick but well thought out battles. I've played online games that have lasted anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours.

Anyway, Roller Coaster Tycoon. I played a game similar to it although I don't think it was actually RCT. It had a really gothic feel to it and was kind of disturbing thinking back. Was a really cool game though.

*checks shelf of PC games*

Wow, I still have it. It's called Ultimate Ride Coaster Deluxe. If that doesn't sound cheap. It was actually a pretty solid game though. You didn't have a business and therefore wasn't as addicting as RCT might be but the coaster creation was really tight and riding them was fun.

Maybe I'll reboot it. Maybe...

I highly doubt a 4th will be announced at E3. If Atari isn't there, RCT4 won't be there with them. Wait... they are there. :?: Possible super secret sequel?

Yeah I know I'm late to the party, but RCT was the bomb. I have all three games, and all expansion packs, except the ones for 3.

The ones for the 3 are really good and allow you to build underground.

Now I need to get them.
