A Thought Occurred

I had one of those things, y'know, a headache with pictures! Anyway, did anyone consider that maybe Lucas Arts is looking to see the success of Battlefield 3? Releasing the game at near the release of Battlefield 3 is a weird idea, not really bad or good, so I can see them staying away from that.
What if they're just seeing how popular the genre still is before they make any financial moves? If Battlefield 3 is huge, which it's looking to turn out to be, then maybe LA will take a stab at another Battlefront.
I hope I'm right. I really, really do.
Oh, bonus points for anyone who gets both Futurama references in this post.

I don't think LucasArts has anything to do with Battlefield 3. Though I am 100% convinced that they will announce something new this year. If its not Battlefront 3, they will never make it.

Of course, it's just EA, but Battlefield and Battlefront are relatively the same besides the perspective and skin changes. So if Battlefield does well than LA should come to the conclusion that another Battlefront would do well because that type of game is something that is in demand.
No publisher/developer link, just game genre.

I mean LucasArts won't announce stuff depending on how Battlefield is succeeding. Battlefront and Battlefield now tend to have a big difference. Battlefield has no space battles.

The core mechanics are the same though. A new Battlefield, if successful, will garner a new audience. So, this new audience, several months after their new addiction to Battlefield, will now see Battlefront, a Star Wars take on Battlefield. If the game is developed well then LA will rake in a whole new bundle of $$$.

hmmm the references: headache with picutres means an idea but cant spot the second one.
Hopefully LA have figured out by now that a lot of people want BF3 to be developed and who knows, if TOR becomes a raging success, maybe they will throw some major funding at BF3 and we will get one hell of a game.

I would agree with that too.

The second one is tremendously obscure. The title, "A Thought Occurred", was a reference to Zapp during the conversation with the Omiconians. "A though occurred, there aren't that many humans." Most of my references are very obscure to which point should not be called references.

Possibly. Anything that allows them to clue in would be okay with me

I'm fairly sure the success/failure of similar games has very little to do with Lucasart's decisions.
They KNOW people would buy a Battlefront game precisely because it's a Battlefront game. Regardless of how long it takes to release it, or what the actual quality of the title ends up being.

That's pretty bad business on LA's part then. If FPS games weren't selling, Call of Duty wouldn't keep being rehashed, if RPG's weren't "in", Diablo III would never be released.
The simple supply and demand method is all that was implied.

Maybe seeing the failure that was LOTR: Conquest(even though i really enjoyed that game and would keep playing had it not been cut) LA decided to stay away from the genre.
