Customization

So I was bored and started working with my ideas for character customization, these are very basic images but get the idea across of what i'd like to see in Battlefront 3.

These images are based around the Clone's as I know the most about them and like them the most :P

First: The main Customization Menu http://www.majhost.com/gallery/iceytoa1 ... n_menu.png

Second the Armour section http://www.majhost.com/gallery/iceytoa1/Mine/armour.png
So you can pick different variants of Armour and attachments(Via a second customization menu of attachments for each helmet/shoulder/chest/leg/knee).

and Third the Colour http://www.majhost.com/gallery/iceytoa1/Mine/colour.png
Here you can select to utilise a colour of any rank you have progressed through or a currently at (ie A sergeant can have White since he has been a Private and a Corporal or Olive since he is a Sergeant) or a Legion colour scheme, 501st, 212th and so on.

In weapons you could pick versions of the classes weapon for Trooper, DC-15A (Power and Accuracy) or DC15S (High rate of fire and good CQC ability) adding a little bit more tactic to the game.
Or they could just be for the looks.

What do you guys think

I think one single page of customization would be better. You could toggle left and right to customize everything in an order from top to down. Also a brief description of each weapon, armor, etc would be nice.

I actually didn't like the visual customization in the PSP games. It doesn't feel right when all of the stormtroopers/clones/droids/etc look different. It messes up the uniformity, and the feel that you're just a small part of a larger battle.

The ability to customize your weapon/equipment load for each class should really be as far as it goes.

I agree with Kelevra, the character customization should be taken out. It messes up Star Wars, like when you look at the army of stormtroopers do you see a random assortment of body parts? No you see the same looking guys so it should be like that. Loadout customization would be cool and maybe an emblem customizer similar to COD:BO.

All those things aside I like your design but I would like the boxes to be filled in... makes it easier to read

I am even opposed to that. I like a simple class based, do what we tell you, system. Customization can be left to CoD 'cause I like my Battlefront in the proper class based flavour.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Battlefield 2's system. Where you are still limited to a certain pool of weapons per class. IE, a sniper can choose different types of rifles as their primary, each with varying abilities, but they can't get a rocket launcher that would be restricted to the demo class, or the engineer's fusion cutter, etc.

I think Vietnam had a system like that. I'm okay with that kind of a system but a fully customizable feature detours me.

I have an idea... What if instead of being 1 guy in a unit and looking different, what if we just have secondary colours, like Commander Cody and stuff.

Or even, have a customizable class that is like the hero. Like Obi-Wan stands out in battle, as he should. So just have him be unlocked in each battle for a limited time.

I think something like this was brought up before. Either way, it would work but I am a bit stubborn on the topic of customization. At first I was on the brink of starting a worldwide campaign for bringing it to BF3 but after playing the PSP iterations with the system I see all of the faults.

Of course, that's just my opinion, and because it contradicts the mass appeal to customize everything, will probably be ignored by the developers if the game is ever made :(

I love the thought of custumization. it makes me feel like it's actually me in the fight. I have always been i HUGE fan of custom armor, color, etc. however if they dont have it i wont mind. my idea of good customization(to help please everyone) limited custom weapons( class specific ie: snipers can't use rockets etc.) but maybe they could also (limited to class), armor customization. snipers can only have certain helmets,so on and so forth. but for those people(like me) who like full custimization, have a fully customizable hero unit. so maybe if you get 20 kills without dying, you can use your custom class. something like that, idk its just an idea.

Customization would not be a good idea because that would just take the fun out of star wars, the imperial army is good like it is but I'm not knocking a wepon customization, but they should really make it more like a real WAR hence the term STAR WARS

hmmmm, In regaurds to everyones disscussion about the customs... Id honestly say that you dont even have to take it to far. I agree that a group of storm troopers with one of them being a Blue Comando just wont look good for game and film cannon... But If your customs came with your upgrades; now thats something to be stoked about. Say youre playing as a base storm trooper on mos eisly(i'm sure that will be in BF3) and youre a private class on the stats board, you can use some kill points you've achieved and buy a shoulder pauldron (black - enlisted, White - corpral, Orange - Sergant) or however the Imps do it. Thats not all; once you unlock certain points levels on the aftergameboard.... say... public enemy 12x you can choose simple things to customize youre character with. Like sounds, Range finders, Binoculars, certain gernades, airstrikes, or a squad following. Or maybe just being able to HAVE a squad that listens to your commands and just doesnt follow you like a bantha could be an upgrade. Or even a mission!
. I just think that any customizing should be a PRIVILEGE. something you earn from hours of game play and something you have to unlock as a Lueteniet or have 356 legendary points.
