Well just like the rest of you waiting years for this game, I had enough of speculation, and started to try to find out if this really is happening or if it's all just rumors. As like most of you, I freaked out when I heard about the preorder of BF3 on Canada's Gamestop website. So went there and found all the preorders. Since then, they have taken them down. That prompted me to do the following:
- Called SIX Canadian Gamestops, all evenly spaced out from one another
- Called Lucas Arts twice
- Called Gamestop Customer Support FOUR times (to try to get different people)
These are my findings:
- When I called the six Gamestops, all six confirmed that they were all taking preorders of the game, but no one had the right release date or even knew. The release dates I got were: January 1st, February 6th, June 1st, and sometime in 2011. But all agreed that it was coming and that they are taking preorders.
- Calling Lucas Arts was a fail because there is only Tech Support so the two separate times I called I went to Battlefront II customer support like the caller on swbf3speculation did and I didn't get anything out of them.
- Then I went for Gamestop Customer Support. There I explained that I wanted to preorder BF3 but only Canadian Gamestops were taking the preorders, not US Gamestops. So out of those calls, I got one rep who said that Lucas Arts has given Canadian Gamestops the go ahead to preorder and not US, which even she said it was weird because she said that the US usually gets the preorders first.
After all of that I proceeded to email Gamestop and lie about preordering it and got a reponse:

Unfortunately, at this time there is not a release date scheduled for this title. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I have recently preordered the game - Star Wars: Battlefront III for the Xbox 360. But it has been taken off the website, but I have called a number of Gamestops all confirming they are still taking preorders. When is Star Wars: Battlefront III going to be released or is it still in development?

But the Rep doesn't say that there isn't a Battlefront III. So from all that, I can just say that it really looks like its happening, but when the release is or who is developing it, is a mystery.
