News concerning the fate of swb3 has been a bit dry of late, so i surf the net for more answers. My search pretty much turned up zip, but I came across an another battlefront fan who expressed his optimism, despite the infamous lack of a game announcement by Lucas arts.
He went on to say that some good came of Celebration V, Lucas announced to the star wars community, that his beloved original trilogy will be re-released and remastered(again) on Blu Ray. This is a glimmer of hope, he goes on the say, both the previous games (star Wars Battlefront 1 &2) were released within the same year as notable dvd release by Lucasfilm.

*First of which is the the saga's leap to DVD, 2004, the same year as Battlefront 1.

* Secondly, the release of the unaltered version the original trilogy on DVD, 2006, same year as Battlefront 2.

The Trilogy( IV, V, VI) has endured alterations, director cuts and alternative scenes with each release/upgrade of various media platforms. For good or bad, Star Wars is in the media again. Fresh on the minds of young and old, what a better time to release a game that spans the universe of the franchise. To coincide the releases, a clever marketing strategy that works well. A real fan will buy everything Star Wars right?

With the Blu Ray releases( Fall 2011) to be the third major iteration of the complete works in the 21st century, can one assume that the third installment in the battlefront franchise is on the way, to be released within the same year. I say, he is on to something, don't you think?

The possibility is given more weight when Lucas arts and various other publishers/developers, continue dance around the big question. That one unnamed project that's on hold, could it be to move the release to a less competitive time of the year or to ship it when the Blu ray is on the shelves?

I think the link between DVD releases and game releases is merely a coincidence. I don't know if this really helps BF3 but there are previous rumors that still hold up as evidence of a possibility: http://scottisalwaysright.com/just-reme ... -original/

That leaves me wondering why 2K wouldn't just want to create the technology to transition from ground to space themselves...

Or maybe they want it because LA has hired them to develop B3!!!!

2K is a publisher and Lucas Arts is a publisher so LA would not hire a publisher. LA hires or develops internally. If they delegate a job to someone else it's always a developer who does not already have a publisher.
