Music Games Just Became Cool Again

Yes it's true. Music games are now cool, again. With more and more information coming from the yet to be released Rock Band 3 it's safe to say that they are. Here's the link for the full story:
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179752. Awesome right? If you didn't/don't read it the basics are as follows. There are now 7 instruments. Drums, vocals, guitar, bass, two backup vocals, and keyboard. I'm actually not sure if it's a keytar or keyboard because different articles say different things. Anyway, one of the biggest features is the real 6 string guitar that you can use in pro mode where you must play actual guitar. There is also pro mode for all other instruments no doubt combating the music industry's complaints of it not actual teaching you anything. As a veteran guitar player I am doubtful but if it works then I might have to shell out for at least the guitar. The cost is TBD but is sure to be painful but the worst is the space this beast of a setup will take up. I know I won't be purchasing it for space constraint alone but it does seem awesome. What do you think? Are music games cool again? Are you still one the poor saps who plays Guitar Hero? Are you offended by that last question?

They give a single player control of all 7 tracks, get rid of the expensive peripherals, and call the game "Amplitude 2," I'll believe music games became cool again.

BUT i want to know from guitar players if this game will be good to teach beginners the basics. if it does ill buy the game soley to learn some guitar. if not Ill just buy a cheap guitar print out some tabs and continue were I left off on acoustic lol.

Well I personally think it's not going to work (and I am a guitar/banjo player) but it's hard to tell just watching some else doing it.

The Guitar Hero games are the only one I really played, but really not hyped on them.

Well there supposed to be a social game. You don't play it yourself but with a bunch of friends which is when it is fun. Pro-mode would be great cause you could show off in such a badass way if you are good.

I used to play DDR with my best friend, I don't know they're fun, but I couldn't play them forever.

All I can say is that I'm optimistic about the music games.

They'll always be around, I think that's all we need to say.

If they make a music game with popular video games music in them, that will be something I'll try.

I meant just all the songs from popular game soundtracks like halo and mass effect.
