Armament:
2 Taim & Bak MS-1 fire-linked heavy laser cannons
2 Medium repeating blasters

History: Clone Wars
AT-ATs were first designed and assembled by Kuat Drive Yards during the Clone Wars. They were evolved from the AT-TE walkers first employed in the Battle of Geonosis,as well as the AT-PT. The first-generation AT-AT walkers saw their debut during the Battle of Jabiim, later on in the Clone Wars. During this battle, the overwhelmed Confederacy forces were annihilated by them. Their significance waned when the walkers were slowed down by the muddy surface on the planet, making it easier for the enemy units to bring them down.

History: Galactic Civil War:
After the Battle of Yavin, it was Maximilian Veers that fully resurrected the concept, bringing the AT-AT into full Imperial service, deployed on a wide array of worlds in the following months, including Corellia, Chandrila, and Gormen. Veers had his own private AT-AT nicknamed Blizzard I. At the Battle of Hoth, the Empire used the Blizzard Force AT-ATs to assault the Rebel's Echo Base, as it was protected from above by an energy shield. Due to their weight, and the unstable terrain they were traversing, a few were lost before the battle even began. One single AT-AT was used on the forest moon of Endor, but did not participate much in the battle that took place. Following the Galactic Civil War, AT-ATs were also used by the New Republic, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, and various other governments.

AT-TE: All Terrain Tactical Enforcer

Armament:
6 Anti-personnel laser cannons
1 Mass driver cannon

History: Clone Wars
The AT-TE was a multi-purpose assault vehicle capable of tasks ranging from the transportation of platoons of clone troopers around a battlefield to full-scale attacks upon enemy installations. The vehicle performed most admirably in support roles that involved providing immediate cover fire for battalions of soldiers. AT-TEs were often deployed in large numbers to overwhelm the enemy through sheer volume of fire. The AT-TE was first built as a patrol vehicle for mining companies operating on distant worlds, who were in need of a vehicle that could help maintain order.
When war loomed and Rothana Heavy Engineering gained military contracts, they revised the design and modified it for combat duty. The largest weapon on this colossal behemoth was the enormous mass-driver cannon (The turret up top). This cannon could be loaded with an array of heavy energy weapons and solid shells, depending on the specifications of the mission. Regardless of its heavy armor, the AT-TE was not invulnerable. A single direct hit by a rocket from a Hailfire droid was capable of destroying an AT-TE, and they were also highly vulnerable to air attacks. However its high silhouette made it easier to target by enemies.

History: Galactic Civil War
During the Galactic Civil War, surviving AT-TEs were still used by the Empire, mainly in campaigns in the Outer Rim Territories. The walkers no longer had a primary status in military campaigns, but were sometimes used for additional fire-support alongside larger assault vehicles, including AT-AT walkers.

Armament:
1 Taim & Bak MS-4 twin blaster cannon
1 Light E-web twin blaster cannon
1 Dymek DW-3 concussion grenade launcher

History: Galactic Civil War

Colloquially known as a "chicken walker" because of its shape and walking motion, the AT-ST was a heavily armed light ground combat vehicle. It was equipped with a chin-mounted double medium blaster cannon, a concussion grenade launcher on the starboard side of its head, 2 durasteel feet with claws, and a blaster cannon on the port side.

Under the Empire, Balmorra was the center of AT-ST production. The AT-ST was later viewed by Imperial commanders as a highly versatile weapon, excelling against infantry and lightly armored vehicles, but also useful for protecting vital units and patrolling hostile areas. AT-STs were used by Blizzard Force during the Battle of Hoth. The Blizzard Force AT-ST was especially modified for polar climates, as were all the vehicles used on Hoth. It was equipped with ground penetrating sensor equipment that could detect instabilities in the permafrost and relay information back to the heavier vehicles, thus ensuring they avoided unstable ground. In the Battle of Endor, AT-STs were deployed by the Empire against the Rebel and Ewok ground troops. The walkers were very effective against these troops, until many of them were destroyed by Ewok traps and another AT-ST hijacked by Chewbacca (Crazy Wookiee) with the help of some Ewoks.

AT-RT: All Terrain Recon Transport
AT-RT.jpg
AT-RT.jpg (24.21 KiB) Viewed 460 times
Armament:
1 Laser cannon
1 Mortar launcher

History: Clone Wars
One of several precursors to the AT-ST walker, the AT-RT was 3.2 meters tall and 2.9 meters long, with a saddle-like seat for a single clone trooper driver. Its open cockpit design made the driver especially vulnerable to sniper fire, a notable flaw, but low costs and good visibility of the battlefield made up for this shortcoming. Due to its light construction, AT-RT walkers were especially vulnerable to heavy weapons. This led many commanders to use them in fast scout packs or in the role of civilian (police or military) support. Commonly, these walkers operated as picket and pathfinder units.

AT-RT walkers were used on several worlds during the Clone Wars, during the battles such as the Battle of Christophsis, Battle of Ryloth, Battle of Bakura and Battle of Kashyyyk, and were later used in an attempt to track down Jedi Master Yoda following the execution of Order 66. Elite Imperial units like Lightning Squadron continued to utilize their AT-RTs during the Galactic Civil War. Modified AT-RTs were also utilized by the Rebel Alliance and fringe groups. Many of these walkers were painted with camouflage to better blend in with their surroundings. A floodlight often replaced the repeating blaster cannon, providing additional aid for the walker on night-time missions, but making the vehicle more vulnerable in the process.

AT-OT: All Terrain Open Transport
Atot.jpg

Armament:
4 Laser cannons (2 front, 2 rear)

History: Clone Wars
As an armored vehicle, the AT-OT differed from the other walkers in Kuat Drive Yards' AT-series, as it was not designed for combat. Instead, it was used to reinforce armies behind friendly lines as a cargo walker. Even though these eight-legged walkers were well armored and equipped with four laser cannons for defense, their open tops made them extremely vulnerable to attacks from above. AT-OT walkers had enough seats for at least 34 clone troopers, but they could carry more troops if required, thanks to the open-bed design. With the open top design making transport of troops a risky endeavor, the personnel walker was commonly used throughout the Clone Wars far from the front lines, only traveling far enough to deposit troops at the outer perimeters of battles. They were used to good effect in heavily forested terrain, where cover was relatively easy.

The AT-OT walkers participated in the Outer Rim Sieges, most notably in the Battle of Felucia, where they carried troops through the battlefield and toward crucial water treatment facilities, in an attempt to stop contaminated water from being released into Felucia's planetary water supply by the Separatist leader, Shu Mai.

SPHA Series: Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery

Armament:
Main weapon may vary:
Turbolaser
Ion cannon
Anti-vehicle laser
Mass-driver
Concussion missile
12 Antipersonnel blasters

History: Clone Wars
SPHA's had 12 legs. Unlike smaller walkers, such as the AT-TE, SPHA units were unable to be carried into battle by LAAT/c gunships because of their large size and weight. Instead, they were deployed directly from landed Acclamator-class assault ships, which could carry 36 of the artillery platforms. In battle, SPHA walkers usually received orders from ground-based command posts, which provided a less isolated and more in-touch view of the battlefield than the towering walkers. In addition, SPHA units had a complement of 30 clone troopers, which could be deployed rapidly via a dorsal troop deployment hatch.

The SPHA walker chassis served as the basis for a number of different weapons platforms, though the best chronicled version was the turbolaser SPHA-T configuration. This variant's main weapon was a heavy turbolaser cannon, capable of causing extreme direct fire damage to large or slow-moving targets. The primary disadvantage of this powerful weapon was that it was incapable of providing indirect fire support to out of sight locations, a problem remedied in other models. Another disadvantage was that the weapon could only be charged to a certain level—upon firing such shots, they had to be replaced with charged guns from the rear lines.

Some of these other variants deployed during the Clone Wars include the ion cannon (SPHA-I), anti-vehicle laser (SPHA-V), concussion missile (SPHA-C), and mass-driver (SPHA-M). Also, these units had the disadvantage of ammunition, as it would run out if not managed properly. Some of these model variations included 12 retractable antipersonnel blasters, necessitating an additional 10 gunners to the command crew of 15. The SPHA, particularly the SPHA-T, first appeared at the Battle of Geonosis where it was instrumental in bringing down several Lucrehulk-class core ships and Hardcell-class interstellar transports.

At the suggestion of Anakin Skywalker, many Venator-class Star Destroyers of the Open Circle Fleet had SPHA-T turbolaser cannons installed inside their ventral hangar bays, where they were used effectively during the Battle of Coruscant, especially against enemy Munificent-class star frigates.

AT-PT: All Terrain Personal Transport
All_Terrain_Personal_Transport.jpg
All_Terrain_Personal_Transport.jpg (54.12 KiB) Viewed 457 times
Armament:
1 Double heavy blaster cannon
1 Concussion grenade launcher (With 8 grenades)

History: Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War
The AT-PT was designed decades before the Clone Wars, but during the wars, the Republic found a need for a small, anti-personnel walker, and the AT-PT became more relevant. It was one of the earliest AT series transports. The AT-PT was a limited production model, the majority of which were stationed aboard the Dreadnaught-class cruisers of the legendary Katana fleet, and many were lost when the fleet itself vanished. These walkers, along with the fleet, were rediscovered by the New Republic, and were used in the Republic's war with Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Galactic Empire still utilized a number of these walkers. They were often used as sentries and patrol vehicles near Imperial installations.

A number of AT-PTs served as part of Blizzard Force during the Battle of Hoth, presumably in a rear-guard role. Large numbers would be used in the Battle of Ralltiir, where most of them were destroyed by Luke Skywalker and Rogue Squadron. During an effort by the Rogue Squadron on Fest, Imperial Defectors used three AT-PTs to escape and reveal plans to the Rebellion. They would also be used during the Battle of Kothlis, where they blasted their way out of a crashed sunken Star Destroyer and made their way onto the beach.

AT-AP: All Terrain Attack Pod
Atap.jpg
Atap.jpg (15.74 KiB) Viewed 457 times

Armament:
1 Heavy projectile launcher
1 Heavy blaster cannon
1 Medium laser cannon

History: Clone Wars
The AT-AP (All Terrain Attack Pod) was a highly successful way of transporting heavy artillery from place-to-place. Its main function was to serve as a mobile gun platform used for shelling enemy positions, rather than attacking troops or other vehicles. It featured highly-advanced targeting systems that gave it the nickname "sniper tank." Although it was noted as a two-legged walker, the AT-AP did have a third leg hanging from underneath the fuselage, effectively making it a tripod. This would extend during combat to help stabilize the walker, when overcoming rough terrain and when firing its main gun.

Although armored, the AT-AP was too weak to be utilized on its own and gun batteries of this type would usually be accompanied by tanks on the battlefield. AT-AP artillery was used during the Wars in later conflicts, such as the Battle of Kashyyyk, where they helped defend the city of Kachirho. These walkers also participated in assaults on Separatist fortifications during the Outer Rim Sieges, on planets such as Saleucami and Felucia.

History: Galactic Civil War
During the Galactic Civil War, some of the Galactic Empire's AT-APs were manufactured by formerly abandoned factories out on the fringe, leading to Rebel forces highjacking lines and getting some of the walkers. Some AT-APs also fell into the hands of pirates, the Hutt Cartel, and other groups such as the Zann Consortium, leading to skirmishes and outright battles against either Rebels or Imperials. Some were available to buy from Hutt palaces.

AT-AA: All Terrain Anti-Aircraft
Eaw_at-aa.jpg
Eaw_at-aa.jpg (66.46 KiB) Viewed 457 times
Armament:
Anti-aircraft flak pod

History: Galactic Civil War
The AT-AA had four stubby legs and lizard-like locomotion, along with a low profile not seen in other Imperial walkers, which made them harder targets for aircraft. On most models, the only weapon was a powerful turreted flak pod, capable of blanketing the sky with different types of ordnance. Other versions could be equipped with one or three rocket-launching tubes.

Some variation had flak pods replaced with concussion missile launchers. The AT-AA also carried complex electronic counter measures that could scramble missile guidance systems, thus lowering the risk of incoming missile strikes. ts preliminary designs were developed as far back as the Clone Wars, and the design began production early on in the time of the New Order.

The walker saw heavy action during the Galactic Civil War, where it was used against aircraft, but was useless against any ground vehicles. Even with blaster rifle-mounts sometimes affixed to the walker, the AT-AA relied heavily on escorting vehicles.

Did you know?
This is the only Imperial siege weapon originating from the Expanded Universe to appear in all three of the major Star Wars RTS games. (Empire at War, Force Commander and Galactic Battlegrounds)?

I was going to make another post and but the AT-XT, but I couldn't find another 2 walkers to go with it. :?

I might do the C.I.S droid variants next since there were -lots- of them.
