Why nobody should believe the GameSpy server listing.

I'm really sorry to start off on a bad note here, but are all of you guy's idiots? Let me just say that there is no doubt that the server listings at GameSpy were real-- it was probably an old listing from when developers needed to access Xbox Live because XDK's (xbox development kit's) have no actual Xbox Live, so they needed a place to host the servers besides the internal Partnernet. Same thing goes with the PS3, Wii, and PSP. They can't connect to retail networks, so they need somebody else to host the information for them (PS3 and PSP use PSN, etc.).

Unless somebody can actually validate that the portion of those servers are active, then assume they are dead. If Activision got pissed enough to send bouncers to Infinity Ward, how do you think LucasArts would react if GameSpy *leaked* server information that could be discovered by the public by a program?

Again, Free Radical had probably put that up back when they were doing there live Alpha testing. It's nothing to get excited over. Besides, LucasArts has already got Old Republic, LEGO SW3, and TFU 2.

First off, nobody said they were 100% real. This is a fan site so any rumours about the game are posted and people are free to believe if it is real or not. Why bother posting if the poster says they're completely fake.

Second, you have your facts wrong about your second paragraph. Bouncers were not sent to IW. They were large men in street clothes, probably just paid to make sure nothing went askew when they FIRED THE FOUNDERS. That would be an instant where an askew may occur and where large men would be needed. Activision wasn't pissed off, IW was because they were being forced out of control. They have always hated Activision, they even made fun of them publically on occasion. LucasArts is also no Activision. LucasArts the film studio would take a leak of a movie seriously but games are leaked all the time so LucasArts wouldn't do anything but make sure the servers go down.

Finally, from the little we know about Free Radical's version of BF3, we know that there was little. Alpha is a very broken stage in development. The pieces are there but nothing to gloat about. Also, I don't know how much you know about servers, but they are easy to set up. So Free Radical most likely had their own testing servers that would not show up on GameSpy and would most certainly fail just when they'd be unplugged let alone the entire company shutting down.

There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion but if you believe in so strongly than posting negative things about a games release on fan site may not be the most appropriate place to post it.

SG-17 (the person who found it) had this to say when questioned on the LucasArts forum if these were leftover servers.

"The last time I used GsList was in early March and they were not present."

Combined with the latest news that GameSpy says they were put up in April has me leaning towards them being real.

though it does concern me that they aren't active but it could just mean it's not going to be at E3. It most likely will be announced at Celebration V (remember, Battlefront 2 was announced at Celebration III) and released a year later so not to compete with LucasArts' other franchises.
