I’ve been experimenting lately. I can’t seem to find the right answer to the question; how often should you blog? I’ve been writing every day for several years, that’s not it. The quality of what I write is not always good; I’ve started writing first drafts for all my blog posts. This takes a lot more time, but hopefully the structure of the posts are a lot better.

The experiment I’ve been doing has to do with how often should you blog. Let me explain.

Set Attainable Goals
The first thing I started to do is to ask myself about the reason why I am currently blogging. I believe that the answer will tell you something about how often should you blog.

For instance, are you blogging for:

to get more traffic
to earn money
to build strong relationships
to become a better writer
It might be a completely different reason, but the goals you set as a blogger is important. And, you should set attainable goals; sometimes the bar is set so high it’s impossible to reach it. Start small, one step at a time. Define your success.

Marketing and exposure over frequency?
As a new blogger, I did a telegram number list lot of things that I wouldn’t do over again. First of all, I just focused on writing. I published new blog posts often, and at the time, my answer to the question; how often should you blog, was every day, or several times a day.

Now, my answer is different. As a new blogger, you should focus on marketing and exposure over frequency. I would publish once a week, and do a lot more marketing for each post, by contacting other bloggers, writing comments (12 best reasons why you should comment on blogs) on their blogs, and I would write guest posts.

As an experienced blogger, the answer is different. Again, your goals are important. If you set to become a better writer, and that’s it. You should consider publishing daily. You should still think about the quality of your posts, but you want to be productive and get your words published. Feedback is important and the more you write, the better you become.

Why blogging 2-3 days a week might be a good thing for you
As I am writing this post, I am publising new posts 2-3 times a week (I haven’t decided my blogging schedule just yet). I am writing longer posts, posts that are more than 1000 words, and I am writing more detailed posts. This time, it’s not part of an experiment, because I know the importance of longer and more detailed articles.

I have been publishing 7 posts in 7 days, and you’ll soon read the results. The posts I wrote were a lot shorter, that’s because I didn’t have as much time to write each post. I believe the topics were just as interesting as the one I am writing about now, and I don’t think that the quality of the posts were any less than my new posts. The only difference, at least to me, was the lenght and the details of the posts.

It’s not less work to be blogging 2-3 times a week, it’s just a different focus. You get better time to write each post, and you get more time to market each post. An important part of the marketing is that you get more social proof, and that’ll help you get better results.

How often should you blog? Why 7 posts in 7 days works
There’s not an easy answer to how often should you blog. What we know is that the major search engines reward fresh content. That’s something I experienced publishing 7 posts in 7 days. I received more traffic, so if more traffic is something you consider to be your goal, fresh content is important.

I have many regular readers, and publishing 7 posts in 7 days made many of them visit my blog and read my posts. I was receiving less comments per post, but if I look at the total, I was still receiving as many comments on my blog as before.
