I've been following this website for a while, and I've just signed up to put down my hopes for Battlefront 3.
First off, the LAST thing I want is for people to describe BF3 as "Like Call of Duty," or "Like Battlefield" (The latter might be a bit more complicated since it's pretty much based after it,) but It should be unique enough to stand on it's own without having to be compared to other popular games.
Either way, my main points:
Custom Class Kits
Instead of being stuck with just "Engineer" or "Assault," you should be able to personally select the weapons and items included in your kit from a pool specialized for your class. For example, a support soldier would have a choice between ammo packs, health kits, autoturret deployers, etc, allowing people to adjust the class they choose to fit the situation at hand.
Environmental Destruction
Now, I would like to point out that I DON'T mean Bad Company scale, where a handful of grenades can collapse an entire building. I mean simpler things such as wooden huts caving in, and computer panels exploding, etc. However, something like a blast from an AT-AT's cannons should be sufficient enough to completely obliterate certain structures that would otherwise be impervious to damage by lighter weapons.
Improved Environmental Effects
Does anybody remember the scene in Episode II where all you could see were clones blindly shooting into a massive cloud of dust on Geonosis? Imagine something like this happening in the game, where sometimes the ONLY thing you will be able to do is fire blindly in the enemies' direction to keep them from wiping you out first.
Interface/Controls Affected by environment
This closely ties in with the above. Imagine getting dust, raindrops, or snowflakes on your visor during fighting. In windy areas your weapon's aim can be blown around by the wind, and in space a nearby explosion can cause your fighter to twirl out of control for a few seconds. In harsh conditions, your communication with other players might even be affected
Battle Intensity
This is something that really disappointed me in Battlefront II. You rarely see any huge firefights happening, and it often seems like the bots don't even bother shooting at each other unless a hit is guaranteed. Another issue is the bot's tendency to target the player and ONLY the player if you decide to randomly fire a shot. The way the AI fights their battles desperately needs improvement, but I do think the intensity of the battles should match both the map and the era of the battle.
The battles of the Clone Wars should consist of unloading as much ordinance as possible in the enemies' general direction to simulate a believable setting. However, the battles in the OT should be much more controlled and precise.
More teamwork oriented gameplay
It seemed like in Battlefront II, most people tended to just ignore the rest of the team and go on their own personal killing sprees. Things like this should be toned down (Except for maybe hero units) Bad Company 2 managed to do this pretty well. You can take out tons of enemies and still get a pretty mediocre score if you didn't do much to help out your squad.
If there's anything I can think of from the top of my head, it would be requiring more than one person at a command post to be able to capture it (perhaps 4?) It would stop some random person from sprinting off without assistance.
Movie Integrated Campaign Mode
The battles in the Campaign mode (if one is present) should take on a cinematic feel that ties in seamlessly with the movies. Imagine the level starts on a gunship on Geonosis, and you're standing next to Mace Windu. He yells the same "Land in that assembly area" line, and you get to jump off of the dropship with him and join the battle.
Remakes/Improvements of the maps from the previous titles
A lot of the maps felt like they could use more (especially things like the Jedi Temple) Extensions to existing maps, or just a general overhaul of the details could do a lot to generate new interest in the maps, even the less popular ones.
