I was at best buy.com and I saw a samsung 55' led 240 hz hdtv with 3d compatability. I want to ask:
1. When will Sony release theirs.
2. Is it compatible with cable?

I do not like those 3D TVs because you need glasses. A rather stupid idea, in my opinion. In the future we will hopefully have 3D TVs without the need for glasses.

Yeah I don't like the idea of having to wear glasses all the time while watching tv.. would be pretty cool for movies though.

My hatred for 3D TVs goes beyond the disliking up the glasses. The marketing idea is pretty dumb in my opinion. Releasing $5000+ TVs in a recession is not a good idea...ever. Who are they marketing for? Like Nitro said movies would be okay but after a while it's just a "ahh", "oooh" factor and doesn't add much to the experience. Let me give an example. Have you played Quake before? If so, you might now that it was one of the first games to implement graphics acceleration. After it released many, many games used graphics acceleration and had great graphics but for the most part, stale gameplay. If 3D technology is embrassed my consumers, you can bet that almost every movie and TV station will be in 3D in hopes that people will watch just because it's in 3D. 3D TVs don't impress me, they actually scare me because of the possibilty of shovelware in every entertainment field and not just on the Wii (cheap shot ). Be afraid children, be very afraid.

I've heard of a new type of TV thats in development where they angle the Liquid crystals (or something crazy) and run two feeds into the TV. They intened to make it possible to have two people in the same room looking at the TV at different angles and actually viewing two different programmes! When I have a minute i'll try to find a link

Would this actually be desired besides the gimmicky factor?

I hate to say this, but for me, a normal flat screen tv is just fine. It works well and I don't need the "newest" tv out there. I don't even like 3d

I despise the glasses idea also. Perhaps one day when I have more than $43, I'll get a better TV

do you lose it how i do, which is basically walk into a store and leave with a worthless something and an empty wallet.

Glasses suck especially with this.
