"Third Person Action Adventure"

Spark have said they are making a sci-fi TPAA. Are we clutching at straws? Battlefront is a Third Person Shooter... I struggle to see why it'd be an adventure based game?
I'm tired and pessimistic.
I hope it's BF3, I really do, but yeah

I've brought it up a few times. Action/Adventure would be something more along the lines of Jedi Knight or Bounty Hunter.

The wikipedia page on action/adventure games says
It is perhaps the broadest and most diverse genre in gaming
With the decline of the adventure game genre from mainstream popularity, the use of the term (and the hybrid term "action-adventure") has been more liberal.
Considering that, I don't think that calling Battlefront 3 an action/adventure to be to far-fetched. I've most cerainly seen previous Battlefront games being listed as action/adventure in some places.

I'd definitely go with action, but you'd assume they'd call Battlefront a Third Person Shooter, surely?
Unless of course they tweak the gameplay/storyline and make it more of a so-called 'adventure' too.
However I am struggling to find an alternative to Battlefront that seems likely

I'm sure something on this list can suit the criteria.

On Steam, shooter games fall under "Action" and "Adventure" genres. Perhaps Spark is just being mysterious?

Yeah, but very few of them have the kinda high profile reputation of Battlefront, and it does seem to be that this is going to be a BIG announcement

me wrote:@sparkunlimited in your opinion, what's the difference between "first/third person shooter" and "first/third person action adventure"?
sparkunlimited wrote:@spartacus128 I think the amount if exploration and gameplay tactics beyond running and gunning. But that's just a quick answer.

The word "exploration" changed it all...
me wrote:@sparkunlimited swbf is categorized as a shooter. If this is true then according to the job descriptions it isnt your game, which worries me
This is really sad but this almost concludes to me that it isn't a battlefront game... sorry guys

but at least I still have hopes on a Star Wars game more specifically Jedi Knight.
Although I'm still waiting for a reply...

Seriously, spartan? You're being inordinately paranoid.
Just because the Battlefront games are Third/ First person action shooters, it doesn't mean the third game will copy the formula cut and dry.
When used in video games, exploration has many broad meanings. When Spark say it, they could mean exploring the floors of captial ships, bases, environments and so on. Maybe the campaign will actively encourage players to explore the maps of levels in order to accomplish goals. Perhaps exploration is necessary in multiplayer to discover certain vehicles, weapons and vantage points. You get the idea.
You need to remember that this (if it is) is Spark's game, not Pandemic's. Spark would want to add their own style to the game wherever possible, so don't panic just because they want to add features that instantly make your interpretation of the Battlefront brand alien.
Also, you need to understand that this type of practice is common in the industry. When a new developr takes over the reins of the next game in a series that was established by a previous developer (like the Crytek/ Ubisoft Far Crys and Interplay/ Bethesda Fallouts), chances are both groups of developed games will be quite different from each other in terms of genre and experiences.
Plus, what is wrong with exploration in a shooter/ action game? I hope you weren't simply expecting BF3 to comprise running and gunning the whole time.

Well that cuts it all down. Though I'm still uncertain so I sent them a further tweet just to make sure they aren't fooling us around.

Haha! They're not fooling anyone, they're being pretty neutral!

You guys need to settle down. Here's the job description for the Senior Designer from Spark's own website that confirms that game is a Third Person Action/Adventure as well as a Third Person Action/Shooter:
"Spark is looking for a senior designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently in development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets. The Senior Designer will be responsible for collaborating on game design systems, designing/developing levels, and implementing gameplay scenarios including: level construction, basic lighting, event scripting, AI scripting, game balancing, and tuning for a third-person action shooter on next generation consoles."
