People also hack websites to place viruses. Nitro replaced all the files so there shouldn't be any security threats to Windows users.

Luckily I have a Mac so it's immune.

I wouldn't say they have no life. There are most likely a hacker (which the actual "street" definition isn't somebody causing cyber terrorism) who is either practicing or taking calculated risks to eventually attack a bigger target. The good thing is that nothing was lost in the process although Nitro does have some problems to re-work

phpbb3 stores the md5 hashes of passwords and not the passwords themselves. You are safe even if a hacker did get the database.
