I dont if anyone heard earlier this week that Activision shut down the guitar hero franchise for who knows how long. They also admitted that the DJ hero 2 had not met sales exceptions and probably arent releasing a new one. And with Harmonix without a publisher I dont think there will be a rockband 4 anytime soon. So effectively shutting down the Music genre... Cant say Im overjoyed but its nice to see the plastic guitar off shelves for awhile. Thinking back on it i get a sense of nostalgia playing with friends some RB. Maybe in a few years(at least five...) we'll get a fresh take on the plastic instrumens we all used to love(well me at least). So with that I salute the guitar heroes and the rockbands for all the fun we got out of them and wave a last goodbye.....

It happened with Guitar Hero, it's happening with Tony Hawk and will probably happen to CoD. Activion's business plan is essentially a screw the consumer tactic which juices out the cash from us and throws us in the trash when nothing is left.ctrooper wrote:Alas, if only this happened with cod....
I hate Activion with a great and powerful passion and will never forgive them for destroying two of my favourite franchises (Tony Hawk and CoD).

Although I got tired of all of the plastic instruments... I still am getting RB3 just for the real guitar

Or you could go to Wal-Mart, buy a cheap electric or acoustic guitar package for $150.00, either get lessons or buy a DVD/Book and learn yourself.
I don't think playing pro-guitar on Rock Band is the best way to learn. It took me about 2 months of practice to play with the basics and could've just stopped there. I decided to continue learning and 6 years later I'm a fairly competent guitar player.
Learning through hard work is also much more rewarding although most people don't care.

Yea I had started learning acoustic a while back so I know some of the basics, but I think it'll be more fun to play with the song actually being played at the same time as I'm playing. Also I can do keyboard and singing and with a family that wants to learn those things as well (at least the basics) I say it's a good deal

I bought RB3( probably the last Music game ill ever buy) and while its kinda revolutionary im not wasting all that money on the sixtring, I already play some guitar for fun anyways...
And Scott I also hate Activision( and EA for that matter) they basically make the same game evry year while its hot and people still buy it...
Then when people realize the game is bad they give the franchise the ax.. sad...
