Post E3 2012 Impressions

All the important stuff is over, even if E3 is not.

What was you're favourite game? Least favourite? Biggest surprise? Disappointment? Any other thoughts are fine too.

For me...
Favourite: Far Cry 3
Least Favourite: Call of Duty Black Ops II
Surprise: Watch Dogs
Disappointment: Star Wars 1313

It was an okay E3 but it wasn't fantastic. Next year when the new consoles are announced it'll be more interesting.

Alrighty. The Last of Us is looking pretty neat. I've never had much interest in the Assassin's Creed series, but from what I've seen of 3, I might just give it a shot. I'm very impressed by Watch Dogs.

Black Ops 2. Treyarch could have easily changed absolutely nothing and the game would have still sold like hotcakes. I've always liked their iterations most, and I think it's great that they're doing more to break away from the mold left by the previous games. I'm sure their marketing will still suck ass, though.

1313. I've got mixed feelings. I'm upset because I think it's going to go the EXACT same route as The Force Unleashed, and it seems like just because it's got some shiny graphics and an M rating stamped on it, LucasArts thinks that everything will be alright. BUT. I'm still maintaining cautious optimism. I don't think I'll be tossing away 60 bucks on it anytime soon.

They just re-skinned it though. What have they done to break away that I'm missing? The different routed singleplayer?

Yes. I see it as baby steps. They're trying something a little different. If it's a success, we might end up seeing more and more change until we finally get something entirely new, just like the first Modern Warfare was when it premiered.

If it fails... we're going to keep getting the same stuff we've been getting the past few years from the Infinity Ward side of things.

I liked the Ubisoft conference the best. Last year, when they announced Far Cry 3, I wasn't really interested. But this year, I may pre-order it once they reveal a release date. Assassin's Creed III and Watch Dogs was pretty cool to.

The other ones that I usually watch, Microsoft and EA, were a little disappointing. I didn't watch Sony or Nintendo b/c I am not buying any of their products any time soon. EA was the worst of the show and the only good thing about the Microsoft one was Halo 4.

Sony-
Obi-Wan wrote:I liked it particularly because of the cross compatibility between ps vita (I think) and the ps3. I just hope they don't do that for any fps games.
Black ops 2-

Very excited but disappointed. I'm a big cod player, particularly the games made by infinity ward, and I'm not happy to see black ops pretty much copied with a more modern feel.

Conclusion: Wow... Need to find a new game series. :8): :\/:

Note: this really reminds me of how the battlefield series tried battlefield 2142 but then went back to a more modern feel.
